Ethernet Speedtest result:
just recently joined eir for 60 euro a month broadband, tv and phone offer now have just got an email that eir are moving away from their inflation+3% model to annual increases EVERY YEAR as shown below i.e. 15.8% price rise the first year.....
Service
Price Increase
Broadband
€6.00
TV
€1.00
Mobile SIM Only
€2.50
can cancel contract apparently till end of march...
what do people think is there anyone better out there who wont slap a 16% price rise on weeks after joining them......
It's why I've stuck with Digiweb the whole time. No annual price increases.
Did you wire the backhaul or wireless. If not would you mind trying it and post the new spreedtest results, if you have a cable that long
According to the eir website the broadband increase is only €4 per month????
@KubaKLucan How are you finding the mesh system. I had mine installed today and the speeds from the modem are excellent but the extender box doesn't seem to be working properly. I says the connection is bad and keeps disconnecting. I've tried moving the box around the house but the connection is terrible. The engineer that installed the internet could't get it to connect either and siad ill have to get onto Eir for a new box. Not a great start to my contract
Yes, 2Gb is available on the NBI network through eir. The agents on the phone are still being trained but it definitely is available
Do you know if it's possible to use a wired backhaul instead of wifi with the extender?
My house has wired ethernet and currently using a 2 Nest Wifi's connected over ethernet.
so if you change over to the 2GB package does the cost go up by €5 per month?
The broadband should "only" have an increase of €4, not €6.
It's really sneaky because eir base the price increase off the non discounted price, for example the SIMO costs €29.99 but everyone gets a €10 discount for 1 year and eir broadband customers get a further €10 discount bringing it to €9.99. So the €2.50 increase seems like 25% but in eir's eyes it's "only" a 8.33% increase.
TV is €19.99 and depending on when you signed up you pay €14.99/€9.99 meaning the €1 is a 5% increase on €19.99 but 6.66%/10% on €14.99/€9.99.
Yes, €5 extra per month and a new 2yr contract
its 9.50 increase on recently signed 60 euro tv, phone, bb phone package i.e. 16% increase this time and another 9.50 euro again this time next year before deal expires so not impressed
one thing to have inflation linked increase but this is taking the .....
only plus is i have till end of march to exit contract but have already got eir holes drilled in the wall to install their equipment
They never mentioned anythig about an activaction date, I got mine this morning and have it all set up but it's still on the 1GB, is it worth calling?
I wonder will I lose 50mps upload as i've 200+ on the current one,
Download Mbps945.16 Upload Mbps203.38
just curious , if you sign up in March 2025 why does the increase not apply until April 2026 ?
ignore found the answer in the terms and conditions
6.9.3 Where the Customer purchases more than one Service from eirand each is subject to an annual price increase the amount of the price increase is calculated on each Service separately. Agreements for Service entered into in the month of March of each year will not be subject to the annual price increase until April in the following year (e.g. a Customer that signs up to an Agreement for Service in March 2025 will not be subject to the annual price increase until April 2026).
Hi. I have ordered a 2Gb fiber broadband and new WiFi 7 device and will receive it in a few days. I would like to ask for a photo of the ethernet ports that are located on the back of the eir fiber box 7 router from people who already have this router. Thanks in advance
Scroll up. Pics are posted above
Thank you for your help
I think this photo was of the eir WiFi box 7, i need a photo for eir fiber box 7.
1 X 10GB WAN
1 X 10GB LAN
4 X 1GB LAN
1 X USB 3.0 Port
2 X RJ45 Landline Ports
only available for new nbi at the min. you’d have to cancel with current provider but better just waiting. I think it’s to do with how nbi accounts are handled.
Thank you very much!
Think I'm going to order this tomorrow, was going to Friday but would have been hit with the increase in April
The 1Gbit/s LAN ports are a bit disappointing. At least 2.5GB would have been a bit more useful. Obviously, if I upgrade though I'll be using my own router.
The landline is a bit pointless anyway at this stage, so there's no real incentive to use the Eir router.
in fairness most people don’t want to be wired anyway- i think the focus groups and market research pointed towards a serious WiFi desire and frustration with current WiFi tech was front and centre.
That’s why they are doing the mesh system as well.
if you escalate it to customer loyalty/retention's , they can sort it , im on nbi for the last 3 years and just signed up , they tried to charge me the full price(€90) but I just asked them to transfer me to customer loyalty and I had no problem getting it @ €49.99 .
Just upgraded to this from a 1gb package. Customer care said theh only price they had was 69.99 per month but passed me through to loyalty who offered it for 49.99 per month. The woman I spoke to had no idea about any free upgrade to 5gb in June
Are you on the NBI system by any chance?
I'm on NBI and they upgraded me @€49.99
Did you just ring 1901 how do you get onto loyalty team can they just transfer you over? EDIT: Rang them and they still are saying NBI users can not be upgraded so I have no idea what is going on… Same thing every time I ring, sounds like they don't have a clue themselves.
yeah 1901 , you will need account number and last 4 digits of your phone number , you get on to customer service first , ask them for retention's/customer loyalty , they are the only ones who can do the new customer deal , the CS were top notch once I got to them , all sorted in 5 minutes including adding 3 mobiles ,so happy enough .
ask them for Retention/loyalty level 2 , some of them seem to be clueless , the guy i was on to found my account , knew that i was on NBI and had no problem sorting me out .
