Starting a thread for 2025 gigs as they'll likely start rolling in.
I'll arbitrarily throw in Rob Beckett playing the Olympia on the 26th September 2025 which went on sale today.
For reals?
Wu tang will come to europe on final tour
With RTJ? Tbh that was the selling point for me
I don’t know. But no wu tang farewell tour will omit europe
I've never come across the Aliens before. They sound fantastic.
they played crawdaddy years ago.
And EP. Brilliant at both. And also the other two times i saw them (Glastonbury and Earagail Arts Fest with David Holmes DJ'ing after).
Not sure if a concert
Maybe Paul McCartney if it is a concert
Edit maybe its that Cork City vs Celtic friendly nonsense
July 8th is a Tuesday
Sure Bruce was on a Thursday
Yep it's the football friendly unfortunately/fortunately.
From Macca to Cork City vs Celtic in a single leap.
Try keep a handle on the ketamine intake before posting wild insanity folks…
Back to the thread, Sturgill Simpson excellent tonight.
Great band. Played EP the same year as the Stooges, Mary Chain, Beasties, Sonic Youth, Bjork, etc, etc. We got very spoiled once upon a time.
Pitbull back at the 3Arena on the 5th of June
Not my type of music but he's so popular across the world and by all accounts a really nice guy. Hard to begrudge him success.
Counterpoint:
He rhymed Kodak with Kodak, fck that guy……..
Saw photos of his latest gig in 3Arena and audience was full of people in bald caps.. truly bizarre!
new shows from foggy notions/umack: the Melvin’s and Robert forster respectively
Melvins, Mannequin Pussy, QOTSA and Jackie-O Mother F*ucker on consecutive nights. Nothing ever on in August eh?
Disturbed + Megadeth ticket prices:
Standing 85 plus fees
Seated From 95 plus fees
Fairly expensive just to go see Megadeth. (I'm not familiar with Disturbed)
Disturbed are peak turn of the century douchebag metal
All fair points…that nonsense with Paisley and chanting "Robin Swann is very dangerous" was so objectionable when the guy was doing his level best to protect the population and roll out vaccines. Even if you are sceptical, keep it to yourself and don't be a dick.
It's very odd as Neil has been very careful around Covid from day one, as a polio survivor. He only plays outdoors now and takes great care around exposure to health risks. Plus he boycotted Spotify because it gave Joe Rogan a platform for anti-vaccine views, so it's ironic he has Van supporting.
Could lead to an interesting duet, if nothing else…?!
Anyway, I'll be going for Neil….could be the last hurrah this side of the pond…. :(
Classic Mr. Worldwide... 😂
They could duet The Needle and the Damage Done
On his day Van can be excellent but it depends on what he plays.
I saw him in the Opera House a number of years back and whilst he and the band were in fine form, the setlist was lousy.
He left out most of his hits and played some real crap songs.
That leaves a sour taste in the mouth when tickets were almost 100 euro.
I knew he likely wouldnt perform an encore but he left the stage and the band kept on playing for around 10 minutes and people thought he would return, which was poor form.
An extra song or 2 wouldnt kill him.
from reading fan forums most seem to think he is backed by a great band but he himself is not capable live anymore , even if he was bothered
I have no interest in seeing Van M either. I only know the songs that you'd hear on the radio. But wouldn't be into any of them. I think Brown Eyed Girl is one of the most annoying tunes ever written. Have I told you lately is decent alright.
But I don't know why that would stop you going to Neil Young if you love him. You can head out to Malahide for bout 8.15. Van the Man will be gone, and you get to be there for Mr Young. I've never seen Neil Young live. Will definitely be going to this one.
Interestingly, both artists (Morrison and Young) have reputations for going against the grain in terms of songs that the public want them to play. Will be interesting if both go on their self-indulgent way for this gig - Van playing obscure songs, and Neil playing 15 minute guitar solos.
I remember in the early 80s, Van playing either Lisdoonvarna or Castlebar with his back to the audience most of the time.
he is notorious for doing that on “bad” nights
I'm all in for the 15 minute solos…! 😁
