Bad news for Scotland if this is the case
If VdM tried to get around the defender and knock on the ball or the ball is slapped out of his hand we'd be listed to why didn't he dot the ball down
Very easy be wise after the missed kick
Reminded me of the Wales v Italy game where Capruzzo made that scintillating run. He probably could have made the line but had the awareness to pass inside to Padovani who dotted down under the posts thus ensuring the conversion that was needed to win the match.
Awareness, VdM just didn't have it, he had white line fever.
Russell placed the ball in line with the touchdown, the ref made him move it out toward the touchline. Video snip in this article (can't link direct as I'm not on X). I was also screaming at VdM to cut in towards the posts, he had ample opportunity to make a few extra metres, knucklehead!
The French TV stations want 9pm games on Fri/Sat because that's their highest viewership for sports. The FFR are the only Union happy to move their home matches to late slots to accommodate them. Top 14 has a similar arrangement with the TV companies.
And I thought that was just me...

It's also easier to navigate the contentious issue of ignoring family duties for rugby if it's only one day
I'd forgotten that was a Friday and I was at it!
If we're the first match, the second two are a blur. Or not watched at all. Depending…
And France vs Ireland was a Friday night last year.
Agree re Super Saturday. No need for Sunday matches. They often feel like leftovers after the main course.
the 3rd game is always a blur on Super Saturday when you go to the pub 🤪
But they were back again this year for France-Wales.
Super Saturdays are the only way to do it
As an away supporter I really hate the Friday night/9pm games. They both just lead to such a long day, you're over there for the match and that's what you're focused on, it feels like you're waiting for eternity. I've been to a Friday night 6N game in Cardiff and I'll absolutely never do that again. Also been at a couple of 9pm games in France, will try to avoid those as well but France loves that time slot.
If I recall it was the same 2 years ago.
France just have a tradition of late night games that no one else does. It's a pain in the arse really - I hated the 2100 games at the World Cup. Same reason the French always get home Sunday games in Europe.
There was also the debacle in 2012 when we were supposed to play France in Stade de France and it had to be abandoned because the pitch was frozen. Called off five minutes before kick off.
Agree.
Commandeering the big telly for two days can be fraught or seeking permission to go to pub.
To be honest , all the games should be on Saturdays , purely in terms of travel logistics for supporters.
Fridays and to a somewhat lesser extent Sundays just incur additional cost/effort for Fans.
Every week-end should be "Super Saturday"
I can't remember any other country hosting one in the M6N.
According to this the Friday night was binned after Wales hosted one that failed to draw a crowd.
I don't know. I think that there could be horse trading involved. How are France getting Friday night matches? I can't remember any other country hosting one in the M6N. Italy always seem to host more Sunday games than other countries.
I always assumed it was a draw/rotation thing. Maybe not.
Anyone else think that having the Ireland- France game on at 14:15 is a bit silly. Would make more sense to have it as the evening kickoff. Maybe there's some logistical reasoning behind it.
Angus Gardner is the ref against France. I can't recall him being one of those refs that has confirmation bias against Porter like the English refs tend to have.
It wrecks my head, it's so blatant. Porter's reputation hurts him a lot
Which he did in the 1st half today and was awarded a penalty that lead to a French try.
Very poor from Italy today, not good for the game , such scorelines, if the sport is to grow outside the usual 5 or 6
Porter has struggled when refs let Antoni away with flopping on his face when he's struggling
The offence is not releasing the ball in the tackle. So the onus is on the tackled player to let it go as soon as possible after the tackle. The opposing player getting hands on should be enough, but holding the player preventing the release should also trigger a penalty.
At least we have the mocker gods on our side , with our difficult game against Wales and France's Harlem Globetrotters win. Two weeks of French and British media blowing smoke up France and Irish media exposing our engrained inferiority complex, will set us up perfectly for a battling against all odds performance!
