I think this is a situation where there is pretty clear evidence to point to as differentiators between the two players, in terms of their attributes. With regards POM and Murray, I understand why they are picked, even if I disagree with it, just as I understand why Prendergast is being picked and agree with it.
One bad game and Frawley has been dismissed completely. Still think he’s a decent player. Crowley is been badly treated I feel he should be at least getting 20 minutes off the bench at 10, not 8 minutes at full back. Overall, it was an average enough performance but in fairness Wales showed up. Thought Osborne done well at full back particularly in the second half. Bealham has probably become one of our most important players over the last 12 months hasn’t let the side down.
Gibson Park very good again, seems to be getting better with age, also O’Mahony and Aki also played very well. A wins a win. A lot to work on but some positives as well.
Frawley absolutely is not a better 10 than Prendergast. He is a significantly worse 10 than Ross Byrne.
Frawley will not make a fully fit Leinster 23 come the business end of the season.
Frawley is not a 10 at the best of times, which is why he was moved out of there by Leinster. Prendergast is already twice the player he is at 10 and will only get better. There is literally nothing he is better at except tackling.
What a hill to die on.
Frawley would be better, in every way.
I don't agree the attack looked better against England and Aus with JC. I think the Irish attack looks much more dangerous with SP but the execution is questionable. Had Osborne made a pretty standard pass out to the wing we would have been up 14-0 and it would have been a very different game.
I think he had a pretty mediocre game today overall. Some exceptional touches and some really poor errors. But he was about middle of the pack in terms of performance. The scrum and lineout were the biggest issues today. Osborne was awful first half though had a very good second half. But in general we left a lot of points behind yet again and it's on the back 5 for a lot of it.
Yes. Without even the remotest shadow of a doubt.
Excuse me?
A point was made that if anyone missed tackles like Prendergast has they'd be out of the 23. I countered that point showing it to be untrue.
Go full maga? What on Earth are you talking about?
I said he was fine. I never said anything which you're implying.
Just a bizarre post from start to finish.
Wrong thread. Deleted.
SP looks lost a bit when under the pump and he knows he has to tackle; look at his body language for about 30 seconds before the Welsh try at end of the first half.
With the play in hand he looks like he was born to do it; like he's playing a different game to everyone else.
Improving his tackling in the long term shouldn't be difficult. In the short term he's going to be targeted, just like ROG was. I think he's going to have a great career.
Isn't rugby great that it was a role for a player like SP, in the safe field as Joe McCarthy and Porter etc.
Delighted for Wales and the tournament in general. A big Irish win wouldn't have been good for either. The 6 Nations needs Wales going well.
Many thanks for proving my point?
What am I missing?
Many thanks for proving my point
you kinda did that yourself…
The negatives far outweighed the positives for Prendergast again, and if others want to lie and state otherwise, that's their prerogative. But we all know what we watched with our eyes. He guided us to a third win in a row in the face of a malfunctioning scrum, and an inability to make a tackle.
important bit added on.
looking forward to the French game.
Many thanks for proving my point.
Gon a hold my hands up here & admit I git that scoreline completely wrong.
I haven't seen the game yet so I don't know if the scoreline reflected the overall performance or not yet.
Roll on France
Its pointless discussing any players performance on any given day if people are just going to look through a blue/red lens and go full Maga.
Ok. He's excellent, best no 10 in the world. eva. Nothing to improve on, never has an off day,
Happy now?
Discussion finished.
Did/do you hold the same view when coaches were selecting Murray or POM?
Or are they only right when selecting your player
JGP has been man of the championship so far. Without him we weee goosed. He was also the unnamed MOTM 2 weeks ago against the Scottish . Doris a giant also, but in terms of making the big moments it has been JGP
given the defensive frailties we have seen so far, would you want SP starting at 10 against Toulouse in Cardiff on the 24th of May?
The selections for the last 4 games would attest otherwise homie
Getting strong vibes of this fella off you Clegg!
not the right forum
As more games go by, I'm more convinced that Caelan Doris is the best player in Ireland and maybe the entire Northern Hemisphere outside of Dupont.
He's so vital to everything Ireland do in attack and defence. He just covers so much ground in his defensive sweeps across the line and at the defensive ruck. And you can always rely on him to carry beyond the gain line as well.
SP is a better overall 10 but I’m finding it baffling that JC isn’t coming in at 20mins in a closer role. Two excellent 10s and we only took advantage of that in the England game in the 6N so far.
No, no and no
its interesting that people keep saying that the attack looks better with SP at 10 despite their being no evidence of this apart from the scotland game, the attack was pretty poor today - as it was against england, as it was against australia (and NZ to be fair)
Prendergast is a better tackler than ROG ever was. He made Geordan Murphy look like a brick wall by comparison.
Crowley isn't as good of passer, or organiser oft he attack. He's also nowhere near as good with his kicks from hand. Those two attributes are more valuable than Crowley's superior running threat to the coaches
Two things on this
Sorry but that third line is just not true. I agree he needs to improve his defence but Ronan O'Gara got by for years being a speed bump and was never in danger of losing his place until Sexton came along.
To say he had a poor game as well isn't the case in my opinion. As I said, he was fine and gave us plenty of attacking platforms.
fair comment
