Well, I would expect anyone choosing to live in a non-English speaking country to make enough of an effort to learn enough of the local language to be able to buy a bus ticket before they bought a house (or chateau) …
I am not an architect but surely there was a better way to configure the downstairs of this house to make a better shaped/sized kitchen?

Looks like there has been some serious water damage in there? You would wonder about the multitude of sins that may have been covered with the new plaster. What a very strangely shaped house, you can see on Google Maps how they came about, but a strange solution, and the back gardens are a bit odd too.
Where is the door to bedroom one in that??
Ballynew North, Cleggan, Co. Galway, H91E3XT
Check out this bleak, horrible yoke. There are blots on the landscape, but they knocked over the inkwell with this one. As with all these hideous McMansions designed by people who shouldn't be allowed to design dog kennels, the front hall is the most bleak and soulless, probably because it's traditionally a part of the house that's meant to be inviting.
Apologies if it's been posted before.
Its directly opposite the door to the green bathroom, but they just forgot to put it on the floorplan! You can see it in photo 11.
The layout of that house is very awkward. Everything for the kitchen has to go through the living room, unless you come in through the back door?
Adding a link!

Someone here likes the colour blue. Unusual house.
That was a great find, made my morning, it gets more and more blue, even the back of the house. But the price, wow. I’m not even sure where you’d start de-blueing it!
There might be too much blue but at least the house is brimming with character compared with the absolutely soulless McMansion just above. Agree the price is pretty hefty though.
The ad says 7000sqm then the text corrects that to 464, but that does not look like a house that big?
I thought you couldn't own land below the high tide line? The land boundary shows it extending well down into the water.
Beautiful house tho, obviously needs a bit of a change on the inside but id happily see out my days there.
Definitely Eiffel 65 fans
Wow, that blue house is trying way too hard. I could not figure if I liked the house for all the clutter. Some of it is very nice but there is just too much of it. The room with the plaid carpet looks like an upmarket saleroom. Its very excitable, not a bit soothing as blue is supposed to be.
I don't like the exterior appearance of the Cleggan house, but I do like much of the interior. Those views are stunning, and they've made the most of them.
It's been staged as a neutral blank canvas to sell - "character" (or soul if you prefer) could be added by personal touches in furnishing, pops of colour, artwork, all to the taste of whomever buys it.
The split floor level in the entrance hall would be an immediate dealbreaker for me, though.
Good size rooms, from what I can tell - pity we can't really see them!
Though being that close to the water would make me nervous of extreme weather events - the heritage trail at Derrygimlagh was badly damaged in Eowyn.

Agreed. There's far too much going on, for me. I'll have to come back and have a look later, I only got through about 10 photos. A great find for the thread though @itsacoolday 👍🏻
That blue house has given me a headache! I suppose they thought of a theme and stuck to it. Way too much though
Maybe that house should be a finalist in any boards.ie "Who'd live in a house like this?" competition lol. (like the way they choose finalists on Home of the Year on RTE).
Some of those rooms were just so blue I never saw the like before.
It is definitely ridiculously beige, but it's most not as terrible as it could be. It could be made to look much nicer with some paint and maybe flooring changes and some proper decor and furnishings instead of those few cheap mismatched staging bits. That front hall is definitely hideous and might be unsalvageable, though; decor isn't going to fix the terrible proportions or that ridiculous step in the middle. I also personally hate that style of industrial metal railings on the balconies, but I understand the reasoning behind them; there aren't a lot of other options for a railing that doesn't obstruct the views but is also low-maintenance enough to survive on the west coast without having to be replaced every other year or given a power wash and scrub-down every other day.
I like blue myself, but…um…that's a lot of blue. I don't think I'd like blue any more after spending a few hours inside that place. The attic bedroom with the wall of old console radios is definitely fascinating, though I can't quite decide whether I love it or hate it.
It was the entrance that I most disliked about the modern house. The outside is very harsh in the landscape but at least it is not one of those mini-mansions with pillars and dormers and loads of twiddly bits. The interior would have to be softened a lot for me, though the views are framed spectacularly. I don't like those 'corner' windows, even (especially) on the original art-deco houses, to me they make the room feel insecure and structurally weak. That step in the hall is unforgivable though, its on a flat site, there is no need for it.
The cleggan house is an absolute eyesore. That'll look insanely dated in ten or twenty years.
The finish on those corner windows in the kitchen don't look great to me. I'm no builder, but if you look closely, you can see by the increasing width of the window frame that the levels are uneven. And you can also see the sealant used when putting in the countertops. It looks sloppy to me.
(I do like the countertops, though).
"This is a once in a life time opportunity to purchase an absolutely stunning architecturally designed country house set on the most beautiful 5 acre site."
What architect designed that!! Stunningly horrific! It looks like some kind of institution, how did that get planning permission when people can't build a modest family home in that area?
that cleggan house stinks of a developer/builder, with a thriving business in office refits/refurbs. Get a commercial architect to cut and paste a design from an office block, materials appear from other sites and the thing gets built by the lads when they have some down time on another site. I know someone who lives in Cleggan, must ask him about it.
I don't understand how you can market that house without some attempt to do some ext landscaping
Agree, that price…..
Interesting house for sale in the centre of Enniskillen. Interior looks in great condition and there's a nice sizeable bit of garden for the location. Price tag seems high given what you could get for your money just outside of town though.

How much of this site will be left in 20 years
That looks fab, lots of character and interesting features, not sure how much of a market for 600k houses there is in Enniskillen
