If you see a job that needs doing..
It’ll be the 2009 crash all over again. People never learn but one thing is for sure prices won’t go down.
Too much choice now from all the tv companies and charging a fortune for scutter. Time to start dusting off the flasks and tinfoil and start going to live sporting events be it GAA or league of Ireland soccer, much cheaper and entertaining 😂😂😂
At young lads game in dublin on sunday. Referee was going yo abandon the game, sent off a parent from the opposition. He had to leave the grounds before game could recommence. The parent was a prick though, it's a kids game. Great entertainment
I’m only waiting for the GAA juvenile season to start with the new rules. I doubt there will be a parent left in the stands 😂😂😂😂
I’ve read much in general commentary that Musk and Trump are engineering a major recession so they may garner even more powers when people are desperate. I’d thought that was conspiracy stuff but as time goes bye it could actually be their angle. And as ever when the US has a recession it will hurt us all.
I got stent put in on monday, I was supposed to be getting heart surgery shortly and the angiogram was supposed to be only a check up or pre op, they weren't expecting to find a blockage. They reckon I'm a'' big man with big arteries and very it'd take a lot of gunk to block them'' Heart surgery is put back for three months because of having to put in a stent, and i'm told to take life easy in the interim.
I told them that'd be no problem. 😉😉
Mind yourself Wrangler. Are ye starting to lamb soon?
About 5th march, OH will be handling that .
I've a guy hired with a chainsaw , he's cutting up the firewood
I also have a guy taking down dangerous trees .he has grab on a digger and he's pulling the ivy off all the trees both the ones he cut and trees I had already cut, and stacking them so that the guy with the chainsaw has them handy.. He also lent us a three foot chainsaw for the big trees . he also has a cherry picker on a land rover and a unimog driving the chipper and towing the lowloader/digger. Great job
I had to give in to hiring someone i wasn't able for it,
....
Offaly farm advertised seems a lot of projects started with a couple of planning permissions also. Is that one you might steer someone away from?
His plan to cut taxes for the super rich won't help that…
Trump coming out of private “peace talks” with Putin and blaming Ukraine for starting the war while calling Zelenskyy a dictator. That’s like a scene from a Monthy Python movie there.
And yet there’s people here that think he’s going to be the saviour of the world. He’s every bit as bad as Putin with his carry on.
He is just lining himself up for a third term and for life financially, he seems to be in a big hurry whatever the master plan is. Also seems to have no plan B, trying to rehire fired people. The blue collar worker will get some education from him. Not alone is the debt a problem, but infrastructure is crumbling.
Few yank relatives of people here locally & they are moving to Ireland, was chatting to one of them over Christmas & he said he said its become v devisive in the states, something that was mainly reserved for the middle & southern states is now in Boston/NY
They wouldn't be short of cash, kids are nearly finished education but they don't fancy retiring there
I don't think he can run again if iam not mistaken 2 terms is the max
You can't run a country like a business.
Does anyone here balance public work alongside managing a private business? Don't get me wrong, some business principles can be useful, but the overall strategy of running a country should focus on the well-being of everyone, not just maximising efficiency or profit. Businesses aim to outcompete rivals, dominate market share, and ultimately increase profits, but government is about ensuring a functioning, fair society for all.
Take the O'Neils losing their 30 acres for a road project as an example. Farmers, business owners, and the public might see that and think it's unfair, even devastating. But from the government's perspective (county council in this case), the decision comes down to public safety. If improving this road means fewer accidents and fewer lives lost, they see it as a necessary step. It’s difficult to accept from the farmer’s point of view, but in the bigger picture, public infrastructure (moving society forward) takes priority.
We have plenty of dairy farms in this country, reducing the size of this one farm isn’t going to drive up milk prices or hurt the economy. Now, don’t get me wrong, it’s an absolute kick in the teeth to the O'Neils, and I hope they find another solution.
Looking at the U.S., you see a growing mindset of I or we Unfortunately, that shift is happening here too.
What Trump and Musk are really saying is, "We're going to run the country like a business," offering business-like solutions to complex problems—overly simplistic answers that are easy for people to grasp and cheer for. But what they say and what they actually do are two very different things. Behind the scenes, Musk is securing his contracts and protecting his wealth, just like Trump.
And how does that come across? Look at the general population that supports Trump—when asked how he's going to achieve something, they often can't explain it.
It’s sad to see, but it’s a reality we need to recognise and address.
Remember the trika years here, when the economy was in shitte and we had to get the bail out. They seemed to call every 3 Months to give instructions. The public service unions were non effective.
It put the economy back on its feet. Unfortunately the past few years have seen it unravel and we will have to pay dearly for all this waste
What bailout....troika?
No idea what you are talking about...
Soft landing....
I'll never forget that interview. Who did they take us for..... two gombeens.
Did ye see the salary of the Cheann Comhairle and Leas Cheann Comhairle.... it's absolutely criminal.
They are trying to push through a bill so he can run for a third term, it will only apply to a third non connective term and their biggest issue getting it through is it needs a two thirds majority. He will be the only living president that can avail of it.
What age is he?
isn’t he 75 or something ridiculous.
12 going on 11 😂
Old enough to know better
Anyone recommend a sharp agri solicitor from experience? I have one but I can't get in touch for love nor money.
Aisling Meehan if you are in the Midwest.
Used Aisling for the farm transfer. Very good and reasonable priced
That's who I had in mind, thanks 👍
I got 22 solar panels put on a shed roof today, hopefully it does everything it says on the tin, we got a battery as well as we've got an electric aga, so we need power when the sun isn't shining,
Time will tell,
