I’ve seen a few kids going to and from school from Hearns hotel IPAS centre, so not just a bunch of foreign military age rapists about to plague the town some would have you think.

I haven't seen any increase in criminality since the IPAS centre opened or gangs of strangers hanging about. We should perhaps keep our vitriol for our home grown dossers, druggies who never work and steal and get legal aid, the travelling community who mostly don't work, send their children into shops to rob them and drive better cars than you and me with no income. Our town is a disgrace, its a no go area, OAPs being robbed of handbags in old tesco carpark, druggies demanding money outside pennys, mcdonalds and St Peter & Pauls, etc. We need to make our county council clean up our town and the guards are supposed to be patrolling the streets, never see them

Quick question: if you walk up to the substance misuse unit or place in the hospital, how long is the waiting list for an appointment/assessment?
They might have meant the deleted post which read less satirical and thus had to be silenced by a mod I assume. Weird some of the above is okay by the same logic, but I guess when you have a stance on something and the "mean words" are on your side it's okay.
To the best of my knowledge you have to get a referral from a doctor to attend the clinic.

Just checked with one of the counsellors in the substance misuse unit.
You can just walk in (or phone in)or may be referred by a doctor. You will get an assessment within a week or so.

Thanks a million 😀 I went up today, and my assessment is booked for next week. I'm furious with my GP for sending me in the totally wrong direction. This is near Glen Connor, and my GP said it was near A&E, FFS (sorry for the rant; just some GPs need to be better equipped and understanding if you present to an appointment with a GP for an addiction/substance abuse issue, etc!). Fingers crossed, I will get specialist support finally 😀🤞
Once you get assessed you will hopefully be assigned a counsellor within 3 weeks. Best of luck and hang in there. Very brave to take the first step.💪
And BTW, I wouldn't be too hard on your GP, because substance misuse were up near A&E until fairly recently, so he may not have known that they had relocated.

As far as I am aware, the new residents of Hearns hotel are barely visible and keep themselves to themselves.

When all our homegrown pests are dealt with I will worry about the non existent crimes of the people in Hearns.
Id suggest that there are a number of other addresses in Clonmel that they could "protest" outside if they really have that level of concern. However I don't see that happening!
