Anyone on VHI get credited for a bonus run for the bank holiday?
Not yet, got the credit for the run itself. But no bonus.
Yes I got credit for the run and also a bonus run for 1 February.
I'm off to run around Mountjoy prison today. Dunno how I was talked into it.
Are you doing progression parkrun or did you receive a sentence?
I'm home. Yeah, progression run. A bit of an eye opener. Must have got it in my head to never have anyone run behind you, closely. Because I finished third.
Patch, it's what the volunteers called him, was closest to me. Yeah, I wasn't hanging round to find out. But had tea with him after, seemed alright.
Westport Parkrun having its 500th event this Saturday 15th Feb if anyone wants to join us , hoping for a big turnout !
RTÉ were at the Mullingar event this morning, a written report is here and I expect there might be a report on the Six One.
Do others here eat much before Parkrun? I tend to get up around 6:30 and have a good breakfast.
Do be a bit heavy, times are hugely down on about 2 years ago...
Or maybe it's just high mileage over many years catching up wi
Wouldn't eat anything before a parkrun personally, maybe a black coffee if i have enough time.
Banana or a small bowl of granola at most
It was a great report, 9% of the Irish population are registered for Parkrun it said....
depends on distance being traveled, but typically a small bowl of porridge
Is Con Smith Parkrun mostly out on the roadside rather than in a park?
Going to CenterParcs this weekend. I will most likely enjoy my Friday evening too much to bother with Saturday morning but has anyone made the trip to the Longford parkrun when holidaying?
Porridge and coffee ideally by 745. Also try not to eat after 6 the night before.
Yeah I did it even with a couple of beers the night before. It's a nice easy flat up and down the canal
@nice bit of green I think you're talking about Mullingar Parkrun, nbog is asking about Longford which is a 3 lapper if I recall, 2 long and 1 short. No major hills to worry about.
Doh!
You are right. There is a sneaky short hill you go over 2 or 3 times but it's grand
Morning, I’ve totally talked myself into it so will be in Longford town Saturday morning. Will be my 1st parkrun in a different location.
Enjoy it. I can say with confidence it's the best parkrun in all of County Longford.
"Parkrun is a fantastic way to stay active and connect with the community, offering a free, timed 5k run every Saturday. Whether you're aiming for a personal best or simply enjoying the event, it’s a great way to get outdoors and move at your own pace. I recently came across this website called BetterMe, which focuses on health and wellness. They offer personalized fitness plans that can complement activities like Parkrun. Their approach to building sustainable fitness habits can help you improve your running performance or keep you motivated to reach your fitness goals."
500th parkrun in Marlay today
Yours or Marlay's? If it's yours. Congratulations.
Not mine,no - not even close !
Marlay's 500th parkrun - good crowd, 688 finishers today and a bit of spring in the air 😀
Bit of sad news, Parkrun HQ have moved the french events from suspended to closed.
Oh I didn't know about this. In case it saves anyone a google: https://blog.parkrun.com/fr/2024/05/16/parkrun-france-update/ When I did an event in Italy I was reading they have to have these medical certs too, I was exempt because I was a tourist but I can see it adding a lot of complexity for the organisers alright
The 250th event is coming up at Glen River in Cork on Sat.
A city parkrun turns 250
Ardgillan is having it's 500th event tomorrow, I have it on good authority that there may be cake 😁
I dunno if it's just because my parkrun is smallish (Brickfields), but I feel like there is cake about 4 out of every 5 weeks.
