Built a lean to 6 Bay and 33ft wide few years ago, all steel bolted onto walls while high part onto existing shed at 8ft high. Came to about 24k ex vat no doors or interior gates. What would one cost now? Was thinking of something similar again. Only had contractor doing concrete

Some saving if you cam manufacture yourself. Nearly 2k in it.
Remember you must also buy, punch holes and weld all your cleats for your timber in the roof, gables and side sheeting, put end plates on all steel, base plates for stanchions, if its clear span you must make knee and apex braces and also x braces in the roof also you have gable stanchions to buy and make
The steel bill is a lot more than just 240 foot of 8x4 rsj primed steel I am currently doing a very similar job but am just starting pricing

Depends on what tools you have really, a couple of hours on the mag drill would bore a lot of holes on Cleats and base plates.

Is it still possible to get the VAT back on these?

Looking at a shed for the new place. Pipe dream maybe but came up with this it's a 4 bay with 16' slats. Feeding area is on the open Northaide. Crush on back wall if shed with a loading/unloading area off it. Isolation/ sick animal pen at the back which doubles as a area for holding cattle before going up the crush. Option of a lie back off the two middle pens.
You have just read my mind I have an out farm where I keep all my silage on and I have no sheds there would be very handy to have slurry there save on fertilizer and could just put store cattle and weanlings on it was thinking the very same as you 4-bay 16.6ft slats feed from both sides with the back side just roughly 10ft and could load out them doors, and was thinking might be handier to have the crush outside.

This is one I like but not keen on the crush inside it seems intrusive. Could be better outside and then a crush box could be added at a later date.
Have similar layout of 5 bay here, except its facing east. Very easy to manage, crush spans width of 3 pens.
Crush outside is not a great idea. If you need to do anything with an animal you need gates in place to guide them into the crush. As well during the winter you are exposed to the weather. Crush is handy as well to load any wild cattle you use gates an direct them into the trailer. After that it's all about layout and being able to mo e cattle within the shed the day of a test.
good points but all my crushes are outside so I have never had the privilege of an inside crush. Had to all sorts in all weathers from time to time. I do see the advantages to the points you are making just trying to keep costs down abit. How many cattle would a 4-bay 16.6ft shed hold ? Would you get 15 weanlings in a pen and 12 stores?
