Starting a thread for 2025 gigs as they'll likely start rolling in.
I'll arbitrarily throw in Rob Beckett playing the Olympia on the 26th September 2025 which went on sale today.
2022 (Pixies, etc) was decent but for me the Big Top has only had one impressive Big Top act in both 2023 (Pavement) and 2024 (Leftfield) and this July has only Mogwai for me thus far. Hopefully there's more but I think we'll be relying on the Roisín and Monroe's instead plus there should be a few goodies at the airport. For a big town of 80k we don't do too badly.
Michael McIntyre 3rd date for cork added July 27th
I had heard that the airport gigs won't be going ahead this year again, unfortunately. I really hope they do go ahead this year as they were brilliant.
Heard that too, but from an unreliable online source. Am surprised as all gigs were sold out or close, impressive for their first year. Waterboys & Pixies both brilliant so more of the same in August would be very welcome, particularly with solid support acts as they had last year.
It seems likely. But it always seemed like Aaron Dessner was the driving force behind The National's involvement in the festival.
Did anyone get a ticket to The Murder Capital's in-store performance in Spindizzy records on the 26th Feb and would like to swap for the evening performance in HMV? The earlier one in Spindizzy suits me much better but it appears to be sold out.
Pulp for 3Arena 10th June
pulp in June. Yet another June mcd show haha
Muireann Bradley - Feb 27th - The Workmans Cellar. €11 in or buy her album and signed card and get entry for €15 (CD) / €30 (Vinyl).
I just bought another copy of her record.
Paranoid London, Grand Social, Saturday 12th April: https://singularartists.ie/show/paranoid-london/
One for the dancers. A late show though, not sure i can be arsed with that in my advancing years. Mind you it is the same night as Chalk in Whelans so i might do both. Maybe @rubick will make an appearance.
The summer only consists of one month as far as MCD are concerned ha ha.
in fairness august is always a dead month ticket sales wise. People too busy with holidays etc
At some point MCD will sell overnight accommodation in their venues so you can stay-put throughout!
Not sure I'd agree with that. Oasis, Robbie Williams, QOTSA, Raye are playing in August this year and are sold out or nearly sold out (bar QOTSA). Coldplay sold out four nights in August/September last year.
Wider than Pictures was held in August last year.
Hardly a dead month.
bar a few exceptional stadium shows it’s always a difficult month especially for indoor venues. Olympia, vicar, button factory, academy and whelans always light that month.
so how many got the €185 plus fees platinum tickets for Morrissey? id say they flew out.
Its only a quiet month because August is traditionally the month promoters take holidays.
if there was a special platinum ticket where you get to experience the gig without hearing any of his opinions Id get that
Nah they are working august same as agents. if there was money to be easily made in august they would be booking venues/acts. Only really mid December to mid January is holiday season for promoters/agents. Except for all the uk agents turning off emails during Glastonbury week as annual session
Lolz! you are very bold!
But yeah, I guess, his views on things are a bit hard to take, at least the political stuff.
He's long gone beyond what I can listen to from him. The Smiths forever but Moz can do one.
Really? I've always thought that there's plenty on, and most already sold out. Much more to be announced but there's already the Collins Barracks gigs, Father John Misty, Waterboys, Live at the Docklands Limerick, Oasis, David Gray, SLF at Custom House Square, Robbie Williams plus QOTSA & Raye at Kilmainham. Not to mention EP and ATN. As dead months go………
Yep. I never expected to be relieved to hear that the reunion will never happen. I'd go to Johnny every month, TCM twice a year but Moz is dead too me.
In other news the only TCM tickets left for the Olympia are Upper Circle. Will be a sell-out as the more optimistic of us on here had predicted. What an atmosphere that'll be.
Yeah, sorry to be missing that. Clashing with Throwing Muses in Whelan's.
Moz was by a mile the best gig I saw in 2023.
Love Marr aswell but his gigs dont come close.
It's not the quality of his gigs keeping me away. Each to their own, I just have enough of him. Johnny's one of the good guys.
Great to see Pulp back, they were fantastic at St Anne's Park in 2023.
The last time they played the Point was a Féile '96 gig.
They are going to release their first album since 2001 this year too, and the songs they've played live in recent months sounded very promising.
Not seen Moz in a decade but even then he felt like a shadow of his former self. Always great backing bands but it felt like he'd lost interest and the new material had ever-decreasing rewards. Maybe he's become reinvigorated since but the shite he spouts means I'll not be going to see him.
Johnny's shows, in comparison, feel like a celebration. He's enjoying it, and clearly so are his audience. He'll keep recieving my cash. Wish I'd gone to that Athy show.
Only saw Morrissey once in 2004. Only recollection of it is that he played There is a Light.. twice for some reason.
Looking at his recent setlists, don't think I'd be too bothered - even ignoring his views. If he did a tour of Smiths songs or even his earlier solo stuff I'd be there like a shot.
Would love to see Johnny Marr again though.. He puts on some show. Blew me away seeing him at All Points East a few years ago and was great at EP in 2019 too.
The picnic gig in 2019 was brilliant
