So the balls-up has started since last night which makes Fairview from clontarf to Edges corner a single lane with bollards down the centre.
This will be a permanent feature and works will take 21 months.
Not if you're a pedestrian!
Pedestrians are far more likely to be injured or killed by a car, rather than a bike.
I can't remember last time it was open. Probably going to be quickly turned into rental accommodation, like a number of commercial units along there.
Ah now, pedestrians breaking red lights aren't that dangerous.
it looked open again today!
Is that what they're doing to the other buildings? I was hoping a nice cafe or something but at least they're being used for something.
As someone who was against this and other such schemes as an appalling waste of money I'm happy to see adjustment taking place now the Greens are gone.

The Clontarf to city scheme was an "appalling waste of money"? How so and how much money do you think was wasted on it?
Did you read to the end of the article?
The NTA has disputed the council figures.
“Dublin City Council has been allocated €45 million for active travel projects in 2025,” a spokesman said. A further €11.6 million has been allocated for “other traffic management funding,” he said, “taking it to a total of €56.6 million.”
I didn't say they weren't. But knowing someone who got hit by a bike at speed and injured I'm pointing out that everyone who uses the road has a duty of care.
I think you'll find that if it doesn't involve building an eight to ten lane motorway Kermit thinks it's a waste of money.
Quite right to be against it, the cycle lane isn't big enough.. should have made it wider on both sides, removed all parking and made the park area Bus only…
Yes but pretty much anyone who moans about the cost is completely ill-informed and not taking into account where the vast bulk of the efforts and costs went. It wasn't a cycle lane project, it was a water mains and sewerage upgrade project with secondary improvements through improved bus lanes and cycle lanes along with some local amenity improvements. However, facts don't seem to matter to some people!
"Cycle-Lane" like a red rag to a bull for some people…
tough sh*t troll, it got done, the place looks a lot better for it, and it's never going back to how it was. thanks for your lovely taxes that paid for it too.
they're digging up around Cusack's too, surely they're not going to just leave these patches everywhere on the new surfaces? i mean they most definitely probably will but it's absolutely crazy they can get away with it.
They've done recent work at the bottom of the Howth road, with new poles on both sides. The inbound one is pretty much dead centre of the footpath.
Plenty of other spots being dug up and badly fixed too.
I noticed it was cleaned up, and the sign out on the path this morning. Then this afternoon, it was open and trading. Great to see it.
A waste of money? Cycling infrastructure is cheaper than any other form of transport spending. It is a no-brainer and benefits everyone, even drivers. Every person who cycles by you when you're stuck in traffic is someone who could be stuck in traffic alongside you in a car. I saw this as a driver and cyclist.
you are absolutely wasting your time arguing with this poster (who has been on my ignore list for years). They would happily level the city and cover it with tarmac to save drivers 10 minutes a day.
The clue is in the username.
I love when the schools are off and you can move about the City with relative ease. Makes me want to do a Trump and close all schools permanently so it continues. 😉
It looks like they're properly working on the north strand to drumcondra route now finally along the canal. Really looking forward to this as it opens up drumcondra and phibs for us D3 residents making them a lot easier to get to by bike or on foot.

End of March for completion of small section between Drumcondra and Phibsboro, but the remainder up to North Strand is "currently expected to occur in Q3 of 2025"...
I'm after getting a text message from "Christy" aka Cathal Khan manager of West Wood Clontarf, who is asking me to complete a 40 second survey about parking and access to the club.
Leaving aside the fact that I'm not a member and shouldn't have received it (apparently it is kosher), it looks like they are thinking about to do something about the clusterfupp at the entrance to the gym, although I'm not sure why they need feedback from their membership about abiding by the law.
I'm a member and never got this text, weird
Maybe they only messaged non-members 🤣 I did phone them and it was confirmed from them
I've been on a messaging list with them for a couple of decades. Seems no way to actually stop getting their messages.
although I'm not sure why they need feedback from their membership about abiding by the law
I assume they think "our members (past, present and even non-members who get sent the link) don't want us to" will be an acceptable reason for not abiding by the law.
It's in everyone's interests to sort it out, no way members want to be queing every time they go to the gym, no way public want cars piling onto the road
(and yes, realise they should walk, no point driving to get exercise etc etc)
So this kind of thing is just permanent now isnt it? After all the disruption its hard to believe they get away with this stuff.
