Hoping a New Thread may fix the posting issues.
I'm seriously losing faith in Diaz, he's been poor for a while now
I’d say he’d be in the severe minority there.
he’s gone from a huge attacking threat to basically a poor man’s Nunez . He’s has time to get it back but we can’t wait forever for him to.
Jesús felt for that lad mabaya today I don’t think I can recall ever seeing a player who looked out of his depth and this was against Plymouth 🙈
And its the same lads who would throw a wobbler if Slot went full strength and a key player got injured.
this…... there's always one in the whatsapp group chat too 🤦♂️
Slot did the right thing.
However as long as the FA keep using the cup in the hope that lower league teams will get a huge payday out of it, nowt will change.
Yeah that was sickening. And Alan Pardew on top of that. 😣
Added that I think we would have beat that United team in the final and Ferguson's stint as United manager would have ended and the 90's would have been completely different for us!
@ 8-10, I was going to bed and remembered the game in hand Wednesday and knew someone would pick up on it 😂
True bud.
And why am I still getting over it?
Yeah, on paper that team should have been enough and the game was decided on Elliott for some insane reason jumping with arms up to block a garryowen in the box. I think if it played out 0-0 we would have gone through on penalties.
As to nobody remembering, there's still some of us that remember Djimi against Burnley even though we won the CL that year! 🙈😂
I'd almost forgotten that!
Suh a shame some remember Djimi for that error and not his performance in the CL final.
True. Importance clearance here when compared to a silly own goal that doesn't get talked about.
Just looking again it's weird that nobody reacted with him. Probably shows how stressed and focused everyone was in the game.
cause I was jumping around with rugby match as well I missed the handball incident yesterday . Just saw it back on lfc tv go ,god I didn’t realise how mad it looked !! Anyway am now on to our noisy neighbours !
That entire game was bananas
I'm not sure if anyones watched it back since but I watched it a couple of years back and it's indescribable.
Also watched the Newcastle 4-3 from 1996 which was less bananas but still insane. Sky Sports did a full retro watch of it complete with touch screen analysis after the game
Watch it drinking in a pub was an incredible match on a **** pitch
Poor keegan nearly fainted after colymore scored
Nearly fainted myself! Was up high in the old Main Stand and it was bedlam at that moment. Best reaction to a goal until Wijnaldum v Barcelona.
His performance is even more remarkable after he was told to get changed at half time as he was being replaced, then Finnan could not continue so they told him to get ready again as he was going back out.
I am not denying he looked ungainly, but that was his only own goal in his career. Carragher scored 2 against United in one match, but people do not seem to remember that. Funny how some players are remember for some things. Did anyone see Djimi's only goal of his career? For as bad as that own goal was, this was on the other end of the scale.
Didn't see the game, saw 1-2 highlights. The handball by Elliott is just madness, it looks like it would be easily collected by Kelleher. The Nunez chance at the end, maybe it's just the narrative around him but he gets up early and needs to make sure he keeps it away from the goalie.
Gakpo took his play on left, huge factor.
Gakpo would have scored that header at the end. I'm not as critical of Núñez as some are, but I've never thought he's as good in the air as he should be for a man of his size and athleticism.
To say Djimi played well in the 2005 CL final would be a gross exaggeration! Would have been off at HT but for injury to Finnan, and did ok in the remainder. Might have got as high as 6/10 overall, which was about his upper limit.
Of our forwards yesterday:
Jota: 99 minutes played, 1 shot, saved in the 93rd. 0.02xG
Diaz: 99 minutes played, 1 shot, blocked in the 73rd. 0.13xG
Chiesa: 99 minutes played, 2 shots, off target in the 56th, blocked in the 96th. 0.07xG
Nunez: 41 minutes played, 2 shots, off target in the 85th, saved in the 99th. 0.28xG
Feels like he's lost form since he was moved into that central attacking role. Rarely played well there and in the meantime Gakpo has taken his spot on the left.
Maybe no one talks about it cos it was going wide anyway…
If we can get a decent offer I wouldn't mind letting Diaz go in the summer, maybe give Doak another chance or push Danns more.
Very happy with the line up for yesterday's match. Moaning about the performance is legitimate, moaning about the strategy is plain thick. You either have no memory or no strategic thinking if choosing to throw out the toys over the resting of critical players in the bloody FA cup in Feb.
Spot on, we have 5 league matches in 2 weeks; by Feb 26th we will know how good a chance we have in the league, if we maintain the current gap we are in an incredible position
The FA Cup is an irrelevant competition. We won it three years ago, whatever. Onwards to much more important challenges.
