Any else here getting the blue colour? It was a hard choice to select one :-) My current car is red, so I wanted a change.

Yup… ordered last Nov, standard M3 RWD, dates changing and moving all over the place since but now gone completely. SEAI paperwork done a few weeks ago, I havent paid yet nor been asked to. You’d like to give them the benefit of the doubt but it’s ridiculous customer service really. 🤡🤡🤡

Normally when that happens it’s because it’s moving through the system. Hopefully sooner rather than later!

Haaa you're just teasing me too now. 😂

Should it ever arrive though - question for you - do you recommend PPF and/or ceramic to protect it's apparently thin (but shiny blue) paint? I loved some of those wraps you shared on the other thread, the green looks fab, but that's maybe for next year or the year after.

The paint is no thinner or softer than other brands so it all depends on how you treat your previous cars and how you want to maintain your current car going forward.

PPF would be the guts of 3-5k.
    I’ve never got it.

Ceramic won’t protect from scraps or chips but it makes regular washing a breeze.

If you’re somebody that washes their car every other week themselves then a coating is worth it. If your someone who uses a car as an a to b tool and just goes through a topaz automatic wash or get the lads in the local garage to wash it weekly then I wouldn’t bother as the chemicals they use will strip it in no time.

Thanks Gumbo. Interesting, yeah, that's likely a pass on the PPF. I home wash but park in a 3/4 enclosed garage. 90% city driving so will probably leave it and be grand…

You can put decent coatings on yourself at home. Many are Si02 based so you’ll get some longevity out of them.

A good wax/polish and then after every wash use a good quick detailer. Spray on wipe off.

Anyone contacted Tesla who has no delivery window in their app (no vin so not matched) ask if any chance still to receive by end of March. Ordered white M3 RWD 16th January.

can anyone confirm this if model 3 is 4dr or 5dr for insurance

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 42,603 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

    it should make no difference.
    it’s a 4 door saloon though.

Off topic I know but is anyone having second thoughts on buying a Tesla due to the mad stuff Elon is at? I'm having doubts as I don't want to be seen as supporting him indirectly by buying a car from his company. Thoughts?

    Seen by whom, the neighbours?

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 42,603 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

No matter what brand you buy, you’re supporting some form of madness somewhere along the supply chain.

Buy whatever car you like that suits your needs and ignore the naysayers or the far left / far right brigade!

Agree with Gumbo. The only thing I'd be worried about is people/idiots damaging the car.. I have read reports online of this happening in the states.. Likely nothing to worry about here.. I hope.

I picked up my m3p last week.. Love it. Only issue I have is the front windscreen seems to fog up a lot (while it's parked).. Anyone else have that issue?

It was all fogged up when I collected it.. They just wiped it down and said it was just because it was sitting there for an extended period. I got them to note it down on their system anyway incase it was a recurring issue.. Which it seems to be.

On the insurance topic, is it correct to say the car has an alarm, immobiliser and a tracker? I did (as Tesla told me so), but not so sure the GPS tracking actually qualifies as a tracker for insurance purposes?

No, thats not something that is normal and is usually a sign of water in the cabin somewhere. Check under mats etc

Still no word on mine... Window I have now is the 10-25th of Feb. I wonder is the car in Ireland and it's just a backlog issuing them? Delay is annoying as had to tax the current car and replace the battery. The joys of waiting I guess:-)

I passed a truck full of M3's and some new Y's on the way to Baldonnell yesterday. Blue, white and Quicksilver...

    Hopefully for some on here.

Hopefully that blue one is mine :-)

Yes beginning to creep into my thoughts as well. Been looking forward to a new model 3 for months and finally have delivery scheduled for next week.

Not overly concerned how others may view me buying/owning one but the vandalism aspect is disconcerting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23 Charlamagne tha God

Sorry buddy, the first shiny blue model 3 to roll out has my name on it 😂

Delivery dates had disappeared for me, updated again yesterday and today with 7th -22nd and now 8th- 23rd. Haven’t bothered calling or enquiring, it’s more fun to read here and wonder.
At this stage it seems the majority of the Q4 orders are in Baldonnell and just waiting reg plates. Or not 🤡
