-7 and 1 off the lead after 16. Go on Seamus!
Yeah he's likely going to run out of holes, but hopefully the start of a return of the top form he showed previously, putting injury behind him
This is great, could be the finish he needs to get a run of form going
One behind!
Still going along nicely...-5 for the day so far
Charging up the field, -4 after 6.
200k , handy few days....
Top 30 finish but could should have been better...not a bad cheque all the same
Back to back doubles and down to the bottom end of top 30 π€¦π»ββοΈ
+1 is not bad as it keeps him in 8th place. The numbers are mad for the hole he eagled. 258 yard second shot, presumably a 3 wood
.
Eagle on the 6th his 15th hole helps...shame it's not being shown in tv
Poor day so far on a much easier scoring day unfortunately
A pity we're not seeing any of it, but nice to see his name up there.
T-36: Seamus Power, -7/277, $40,997.50
Hardly worth getting up for!
Those big numbers have always been a problem. Turn those doubles and triples into bogeys and it adds up overtime.
It'll be a top 40 finish i think...a nice cheque but needs to do better in these events. That triple bogey on the last on the Thursday was pretty costly
Seamus needs solid finishes this year in the standard events as he is going to miss out on the rest of the signature events. It is much more difficult for the players outside those events to climb up the fed ex and world rankings. Hopefully a low score todsy will propell him up the field
saw he was in the group with Grilloβs slam dunk ace.
-4 today and should be ok for the weekend.
Good recovery from what happened on 17 yesterday.
Hope he has another good weekend.
Yeah sickner of a finish but he played well for the other 17. Hopefully he kicks on tonight and makes the cut
Was having a nice steady round with 3 birdies and no bogies up to 17th. Then in the water twice for a 7 to finish level π΅βπ«
Yes, it was a good day for all three Irish golfers.
Easy to overlook with Rory and Shane's 1 & 2 but a nice top 20 for Seamus in a big money tournament. Hopefully he can build on a good start to the year
Looks like he's teeing up this week anyway.
Back issues keeping him off the course at the moment
McKibbin could yet be a generational. He has a bunch of top 10s along with his win and he's only 21. He's very smart on the course, his game management is top notch for someone so young.
I'm really looking forward to seeing him on the PGA tour.
I must be braindead today, I forgot poor Tom existed π. It was only days since we were trying to figure out the points needed to get the 10th PGA card. He's got great potential tbf and skipped college to go pro. Would be great to see him kick on.
McKibbin has the potential to have a career that eclipse's Lowry's in my opinion. He's still a year younger than when Lowry won the Irish Open as an amateur and has a win and a PGA Tour card.
I think journeyman is an easy get out for describing most pro golfers. The window of peak success for most can be quite short. Some reach it at the end of the career like Richard Bland but otherwise, you can argue his career was 100% journeyman.
Power has wins and enough cash to look back fondly when he eventually retires. There are many great young players coming through each year and Liv will re-integrate at some point soon. Add smaller fields to deal with. The PGA tour will not get any easier. Hopefully, he gets the body right once again and kicks on. It would be awesome to see him make a Ryder Cup squad.
We've had a lot of young pros try to make a step up to the main tour and struggle. It may be a while before we see a new Lowry or Power on tour but there are green shoots. Rory is a generational talent so I'd exclude him from that chat.
The way of the world. But whilst the earnings of the average to poor PGA pro are up massively than by gone eras. So too is the standard of said pros.
So it's all relative imo.
