Perhaps, I'm not waiting on a new one so not sure what the issue is. They'll make brilliant second hand cars in 2 or 3 years time.
2025 might see the return of the small car. It feels like the manufacturers of the €100k EVs, electric SUVs have sold all the €100k+ cars the market can handle and are pulling back, and meanwhile the panda, inster, Renault 5 etc all look like sales winners at the moment.

The plural of anecdote is not data, but of the three 251s I've seen this year, two were EVs; an Ioniq 5 and a VW ID4.

Yeah. 34% higher than January 2023 - 2023 being the highest year to date.
the market is +7% overall, which is decent growth for any one year.
EVs +20% year on year, which brings them up from 13% marketshare to 14%. 2023 marketshare was 18%.

Last January the market overall was up almost 15%. So it's up, but not by as much.

PHEV segment shows incredible percentage growth. A lot of people happy to utilise the benefits if PHEV it seems but not ready to go full electric.
I'd say most of BMW's upturn in Jan 25 v Jan 24 must be a down to a fair amount of M5s registered.
not really - there’s 40 m5’s registered in Jan, versus 1085 sales overall.

That said, 40 m5’s is a MASSIVE number for a market our size 😀 - great to see it
I was not expecting that.
Very good value in the x5 50e compared to other similar cars, and to the 3.0d. Similarly for the 530e v the various Audis. BMW have just hit the sweet spot for the Irish market with the plug in hybrids from x5 to m5.
To be fair a lot of diesel driver's are just being forced into PHEV’s. You can’t even buy a new diesel 3 Series anymore and the diesel 5 Series doesn’t make sense due to VRT
I’m guessing a lot of people spec’ing an x5 into €135k didn’t realise they could jump to an M5, and 40 of them made the jump
Cant buy a new diesel 5 here either.
I know which i'd pick, given the chance.
The alternative is, anyone considering an i5 m60 would likely also move to the m5.

I did think that but then I checked and saw two 251 5 Series on Donedeal? Both Touring models.
They aren't the new ones. There are only 2 and both are the prior model

their delivery times are all over the place - they strong-arm their customers into delivering cars in June and December to make the company numbers look better, and then do nothing in Jan and July
I thought that would have changed now that the Model Ys are made in Germany and can be cross-shipped to Ireland more easily and more frequently. In the past it used to be because the boat from China only brought RHDs for Ireland a couple of times a year.
I suspect we get deliveries in June and December because our biggest neighbor wants deliveries in march and sept.
M5 not getting great reviews and thats unusual - not a good sign for performance cars for the future
