Game week 24 table
The Chelsea keeper had the ball in his hands for 50 out of the final 110 seconds. That rule needs to be changed.
Chelsea are ahead through a massive deflection. It should go down as an own goal. That's cruel.
Chelsea so fortunately to be in front here, Palmer with a deflected effort.
West Ham hit the post through a Kudus header, but it wouldn't have counted had it gone in. He was offside and VAR would have ruled it out.
Shouldn't have stood, clear foul on Bowen.
Chelsea level through Neto.
Wait, VAR are checking for a potential offside.
I think they'll be alright.
If that free kick was better executed, West Ham could have scored. It was a clever idea to try and catch out the Chelsea keeper.
15 Jaysus thats quite good, would have guessed around half that, like I said I wouldn't watch them all the time.
I work with and Arsenal fan who can't stand him, thinks he's absolutely useless. I do try debate the alternative with him as I think there's a quality player in there. Maybe not a centre forward however.
He's a bit like Nunez among Liverpool fans, completely divides the fan base. If you just look at the Arsenal and Liverpool threads on here you can see this.
He scored the more difficult chance yesterday and has 15 goals this season. He's not doing too badly at all.
I think it's because he misses so many chances, I might be wrong as I don't watch Arsenal all the time but I've some bad misses from him.
Someone was having a go at Havertz there, I really like him. He’s only 25 and I think he can come really good yet. I like his attitude, he gets into great positions and his efforts never go unnoticed by the Arsenal fans.
Roberto Sanchez dropped by Maresca. It's been coming
Can’t help liking Amorim, comes across as top notch. I think he is a very good manager but has a squad of mediocrity.
I think it’s clear in recent games he has being prioritising defence, which is fair enough given the lack of talent.
Not a fan of his formation. Many United fans want Amad as right wing back. Doesnt make any sense to me. Either left wing back to get crosses in or right side number 10. But i probably just dont understand the formation.
Interesting though that in recent days, Amorim’s honeymoon is over. A number of Sky Sports News guests starting to criticise him.
Its been like this for years now.
All of those things can be true, United can indeed be a basket case of a club filled with bad players.
But the coach should still have an effect regardless. The coach should still be able to improve something, somewhere. Should still be able to perform to at least Ten Hag levels.
What's really dangerous for United right now is blindly deciding that Amorim is a great coach and in doing so start ignoring any and all signs that maybe, just maybe, he actually isn't.
but my point is that barely anything that happens at Utd right now is down to the manager
What happens on the pitch is surely down to him. Yea, he's inherited a squad, but it's not a bunch of cheap players!
Tactically he's been fairly inconsistent. I can't see him lasting too long, but if Utd clear out the players with poor attitude the next manager should have a better squad to work with.
I've no doubt Utd will be be challenging for the title again. When is the question, I'd have a stab at a guess at 5 years or so.
Great post. Wish we could have more of these on a regular basis 👏 and get away from the childish twitter style posts.
(MYSELF included)
Utd is a basket case of a club, so in fact, it's pretty clear, and has been for a very long time, that no one manager is going to be able to do anything without an awful lot of time and patience. That is the nettle that Utd have never grasped, partly because it's very hard to accept that you have to grasp it. When people say there has to be clearout, that is precisely what is needed, and that doesn't happen quickly.
They've fúcked things up to such an ungodly degree that Amorim can't succeed to any real degree. They've players on wages and contracts that don't deserve those wages and contracts. And so they can't be shifted. Players like Bruno Fernandes, while not the problem, are on elite level contracts. They are then a benchmark for other players in the squad. Players like Mazroaui are on 135k a week. De Ligt on 190k. Mount on 250k. Eriksen taking up 150k a week. Maguire on 190k I think. Onana over 100k. These are all players that nobody else is paying those wages for, and are taking up slots in the squad. Meanwhile, it's obvious Amorim's bosses aren't going to let him change the squad quickly.
I love the fact my club has Arne Slot, obviously. But I have zero doubt that Amorim could've come in to Liverpool and done an excellent job too - maybe not quite what Slot has done, i don't know - but my point is that barely anything that happens at Utd right now is down to the manager.
They'll ultimately sack him if this keeps going, I'm pretty sure. But so the cycle keeps going.
Now thats jusy untrue.....Theres also the Arsenal stuff 😅
Im out of this d1ck measuring rubbish between Utd & Pool fans…
Pointless… 🙄
Why even bother comparing? The Premier League is far more competitive now than it was in 2015. If things aren't right at a club, you can fall off a cliff results wise. Didn't Klopp lose 6 consecutive PL games at Anfield in 2021? And also his team fell off a cliff after competing for the quadruple in 2022. Pretty sure he had them midtable and getting battered at home in the CL despite being 2-0 up etc.
Similarly Man City fell off a cliff this season and went on one of the worst runs you could imagine a previously all conquering side could go on.
The lesson is if you don't have your sh*t together for whatever reason in this super league version of the PL, you will get mercilessly exposed. I don't think it's smart to gloat because it's inevitably going to happen to your team (again) at some point.
Lets hope the transfers are top notch then, because the usual summer of touring America or the far east will be the next excuse as to why the coach never gets enough time on the training field.
Amorin has lost 5 out of his 7 league games at Old Trafford.
Klopp went years unbeaten at Anfield. I don't know what that record is but it was very impressive.
Trying to compare the 2 of them is delusional. You should be comparing Amorin to Frank De Boer at this stage.
Mod Edit: Warning issued
Garbage take.
Terrible miss for sure and its not the first but he leads the line excellently, never stops closing down, always available for a pass, brings other players into game and still has managed 15 goals so far this season
those asthma inhalers are fantastic in fairness
Yeh sorry as posted above I commented on it.
Klopp only inherited 8 players that had featured in the 2013/14 squad. Mignolet, Sakho, Skrtel, Flanagan, Lucas, Henderson, Coutinho, and Sturridge. Of those both Lucas and Sturridge were crocked.
I won't hold my breath 😅
