Yeah it should be a new episode but the planner is obviously acting up ...might just be my planner but could catch others out if it's more a virgin media issue
Is it a new episode tonight?
Brand new. Dermot with a gay couple, which could shock a few grannies and grandads. Is that a first?
I wonder where exactly the house is? I’d say that’s well more than 100 years old. More like approaching 150. A money put!
Definitely not a first.
he had two girls last year think one was an aussie which might explain the gay part
I don’t understand how these major structural faults aren’t discovered when buying a house . Surely a survey is completed especially when the house is so old .. is one of them not an engineer?
€10000 to put on 80cm to an extension.
Mad money
Jesus this house is a disaster zone. They would be better off burning it down and going off to buy another one somewhere else. I feel so sorry for these two lads.
190k - 225k- 260k +
Yeah, and it may be my ignorance, but are the neighbours happily living in their houses with the same issues not impacting them?
Does a house not get an engineer or something, get done before sale?
Has a buyer any recourse from seller/agent or insurance?
I’m asking cause I genuinely don’t know I’m not being antagonistic suggesting recourse from anyone just wondering.
they wont be happy watching this. i dont see how thye wouldnt have the same issue
In fairness though an engineers report beforehand wouldn't have dug up the floor and found water, yes there would be damp but to be expected in any old house.
My father's house is very old/small stone built land commission style house and currently being renovated, when floor was dug down to enable proper floor, insulation, underfloor heating etc there was literally a stream flowing in under one gable straight through the house and out the other side when you went down far enough. The house when in use and heated was not particularly damp downstairs, upstairs was from old chimneys. Nothing could have forseen that!
Surely a lot of what they "found" was expected. There was rising damp known about already, half of the house is a literal basement. The house is 100+ years old. Nothing that they found was really that shocking. I think what is criminal is Dermots team not saying, "Look this build is 210k but we NEED a contingency of at least 25% as x,y,z will probably be found".
I feel so sorry for these guys, they really opened up a can of worms. It must be a nightmare for the builders too. The house they just visited is Sonya Lennon's house in Nottingham Street. Fabulous house
where is all that water coming from…….is there a river nearby? I missed the earlier part of the show.
If that is a stream or river, won't it get worse during flooding and very wet periods, wont it get worse in the next 10 years due to climate change? I read a story only 2 weeks ago about a house out near Orwell in Rathgar I think which was falling into the Tolka!
Oh god, Munster joinery windows. The worst in the business 😓
They must be doing it for free
Terrible reviews online
Did they not have a plan to put in underfloor heating?
I thought that was maybe just my experience. The drafts are something else
To be fair, probably one of the first things to go with cost savings. Probably knows a few thousand back. Reasonable I think.
yeah it’s there
7 min left and they have only started slabbing.
They are the cheapest though. Have always been! You see them a LOT in estate houses etc from the last few decades.
Was that the house in Inchicore falling into the Camac? The Tolka doesn't go near Rathgar.
my new build had them. You could see daylight all around the front door! I replaced all after 8 years.
The project isn't even finished!? He just mentioned its the end of January 2025!! They must have filmed this a week ago..
ugh not liking the black. Disappointing that it’s not all done.
Same as. I am not a DB man though, I like my rooms and delineations. A 4 metre ceiling is lovely but a waste of space and money to me. Not to mention the cost of heating such a space.
