Speaker issue

I have a Marantz PM6007 and a pair of Monitor Audio RS6 speakers (from your good selves).

Main source is an RCA connection from TV headphone out. Worked good for years.

The right speaker is now not giving sound.

What's the best way to troubleshoot this?

What usually happens in this situation? Put the good speaker in the garage and buy a new pair?

Thanks for the post Dan Steely and I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with your speakers, the RS6 were amazing!

The best way to troubleshoot this is to swap the right speaker and the left speaker. If the fault follows the speaker it's the speaker that's faulty. If the sound stays off on the right speaker then it's a problem with either the amplifier or source.

If you can try this first of all let me know how you get on and we can get you sorted with a new pair if you need one!

There's not much you can do with a single speaker unfortunately - you could maybe advertise it as spares?

The problem is with the amp. R side for both zones A & B are gone.

Marantz come with a 2 year warranty so if it is within this you can send it back to us for repair.

Try replacing the RCA connector from the headphone out before you replace the amp, or check it with another source. Problem might be the cable/connector rather than the amplifier itself.

Like a few have said it is worth checking the cable.

It is a strange issue for both the right channel on both Speaker A and B for to go faulty at the same time.
What you could do is unplug the RCA to the amp and switch the end connected into the right RCA input into both right and left inputs on the amp and then the same with the left RCA. If it is the cable then the issue should change from side to side.

If the cable might be damaged/faulty at the TV output end then only a new cable can be used to test this. If a new cable still gives the same result then it points more to the amp.

Result. Sound followed the RCA channel swap, on two inputs. So the cheapest fix of all possibles.
