With all the talk of the great deal on the GTX I might contact my local VW dealer to see if they will do me a good deal! If anyone might pm me with an idea of what they're trade in/deal looked like I'd really appreciate it! It cud be too expensive for me but no harm in looking!!

I'm thinking about doing similar. We do very little mileage but having the extra oomph would be nice. Trading in a 1.2 Golf highline 2 owner 171D 86,700km. A few knocks and alloys needing a refurb. May even include an 07 TT Cab in the mix 😁
I’d say 16-17k trade in value for that. it’s a year newer than mine but yours has 50k km more on it so it should trade around the same value I’d say. I got €16k for mine.
You won’t know until you ask and you’ll need to ask a few.

The pricelist is on the VW website. But unlike other manufacturers they do not have a separate pricelist that gets updated they still have it in the id.3 product guide so we do not know if the prices in there are current.
I don’t know what you mean. The price list is there to download and gives the OTR price. It has been updated a few times and has a date on it.
I’ve seen trade in prices for ID4’s at that price, 2021 cars. I think it will be lower, but you won’t know for sure until you go. The ID3 price is set so go around a few and see what the cost to change is like. Play one dealer off another.
They are €40, 375’ish including the 1195 delivery fees etc

So it does have a date in January. But other manufacturers have a product guide and a separate PDF(price guide) you can view with current prices. Anyway the prices are still shown so no issues with the way they do it.

The standard is €38,675
The Performance plus isn't even 42k.
The price in the Brochure is ROTR, dealers can charge more it they want.

Probably adding Lifeshine or similar rubbish, as well as Gap insurance, SMART repair and few other bits as default - pure gravy for them. Ask them if included. If so, tell them to bog off.
This is the only GTX Performance Plus on DD currently, that is the same as the full OTR price per VW pricelist:

it’s hard to judge but they look standard enough, no cost wheels, 500€ red colour. Hard enough to add 9k options to the gtx performance but I guess you could do it if you added everything available?
this is why we ended up in a Tesla. I was ready to place an order with VW but the salespeople were largely terrible.
Thanks for all the replies and interest! But couldn't face the near 40k Decided to plum for a 221 EV6 GT with low mileage, reckon I'll get the full remaining 4 years warranty for less than the GTX. Always liked the EV6!

What deal did you get? How much was the EV6 and what did they allow for your ID3?
I spoke to one dealer who has a GTX Performance Plus priced on DD at 44,862, and they told me, the grant has not been taken off that, which reduces it to €41,362 and they have then added an optional "Pro Pack", paint protection etc, which appears to add around a grand, but it is optional.
Another dealer, told me the OTR price of GTX Performance Plus is 40,416 OTR, and they ignore the grant on web pricing, for their commerical/fleet customers, who do not qualify for the grant.
to be clear, legally, dealers can’t charge more on the car itself, I don’t think it’s possible anywhere in Europe actually - but as others have said, they will certainly add the lifeshine, gap ins and other things - I’ve had that happen before, but not in an underhand way - it’ll be in the itemised price list
ROTR is Recommended on the road price
OTR is on the road price.
Recommended price is what the manufacturer suggests the vehicle shoukd be sold for. Some might charge more don't think there is any reason an independent dealer can't charge a little more.

What you’re describing is what the US/UK refer to as a dealer charging ‘overs’ or ‘dealer markup’
It’s illegal here. The price of the car itself might change between ordering and receiving, but you have to get that in writing and have to option to cancel - like what happened in 2021 during the parts and supply chain issues. The list price of the cars was rising.
