Best of luck with your new car .
Looking forward to getting mine from Cork soon 😄
Quick question.. I collect new car today.. Say I find an issue with the car when collecting what's the procedure, do I refuse custody of the car or do I organise to bring car into workshop to have item fixed.. Cheers
3rd of December
Depends on the issue.
Serious problem, id refuse it as i would with any new car.
Document it though, photos etc
You have 160km to notify them of any defects such as scrapes, damage etc so make sure to give it a good going over before you leave or well before you hit that km mark.
What's the 160km thing?
If you miss any scrapes or damage on collection you have X amount of days or 160km (could be 100km so check T&C's) to report it to be fixed. Any time after that and they can deny the damage was there on collection and could of occurred in our possession.
I got caught a few years ago with a 520d. Missed the centre emblem on the steering wheel which was dented in but they done nothing by the time I copped it.
Changed my mind on the quiksilver, seen a few in the flesh yesterday, if I was going for a performance definatley the red/white combo. Quicksilver still looks good but not half as good as it did in the showroom.
I would really like to see one in the flesh before I take delivery. Any chance anyone on here has one in the Limerick, Cork, Clare, Tipp or Galway area that wouldn't mind letting me take a look at ?
Also can someone remind me how long it takes to have delivery reflected in the app after an order is confirmed ?
You can test drive them in the Tesla showroom in cork, they've a few up there, I was thinking the performance when I went down or the awd, tbh I drove the rwd and flung it into a few roundabouts, it's good enough without spending more on the other two. They have quicksilver there. It's in the foto island business park. You can just pop in I had no appointment.
If the cars not in stock or on the way he was talking april/may for a new build.
Only problem at the moment is, if you order the RWD, you are ordering the old shape. You might rather that?
Or Tesla may just switch to the new shape once the plant switches completely or they've no inventory stock floating about.
They had a good few new shape in cork yesterday, maybe they might have had some KM on them, there was some also on the way but said if you won't take one of the arriving soon it'll be a few months.
My mistake, I had assumed Model Y.
Was just onto Tesla there. For the Quicksilver or Red it looks like I won't get a match for March, they have red with white interior and Photon wheels due alright but I want black interior and Nova wheels 😓. Will take a spin to Cork on Sat to see the Quicksilver. Am close to a deal on my own yolk though so will need to sort a car out.
They had a midnight cherry new shape for sale in the yard, not sure if was new or not, didn't look at the spec sheet, it's not a bad colour.
There's no New Shape MY's in the country yet. Expected May.
Model 3 in cherry red is nice, especially with he contrasting white interior.
😁, you're right I was thinking of the 3. It was the old shape Y.
Have you drove the 3 yet?
Ask for extended test drive, see can you get it over night. Then compare to Seal (they give 24 hour test drives).
They are about the only 2 relatively in the same price bracket (37k M3/46k Seal) other than ID7 maybe.
I drove the new model in RWD with the small battery for maybe half an hour, I didn't bother driving the AWD afterwards as didn't see much point, the RWD had plenty of grip, I've driven the Seal before it seemed like a nice car with everything you needed, I was tempted but range is my highest priority.
Seal has an 82 kWh battery, M3 RWD is 60 kWh.
Real world they both as efficient as each other but id expect the seal to have more ultimate range no?
It's the long range i'm looking at, so 570km V's 702 km.
Actually wondering will I lose the APR of 0.99% if I don't take delivery before March ? Albeit for a small amount I'd still not like to lose it.
Is Musk not putting you off buying a Tesla? You could still get your deposit back and be in a Seal by end of Feb.
anyone know good places to get accessories and diy ppf kit for model 3 base
I think you can spec the cars without him coming with them. Let me check that out and come back 🤔
Oh, didn't you hear? BYD are bad too. Because something, something, Chines government, something. 🤣
I picked up my M3 LR yesterday and wanted to share a few notes for anyone else collecting their car. When I first got in the car I was a bit concerned because there were several warnings and errors on the dash related to collision and autopilot. The young lad at the collection point told me that these were normal and would disappear after driving for a while as the systems calibrated, which they did. I had done some research about what to expect on collection day and never heard about this.
I spent a good bit of time inspecting the paint, panel gaps, finish and found zero issues. Went through a checklist i found in a youtube video somewhere but nothing to report. Overall, I am delighted with the car. I chose the red (stunning) with a black interior, was debating to go with white but im happy with the black. You read an awful lot online about potential build quality issues, but my car was flawless and feels so solid. Im coming from a 2017 E350 Mercedes and find the build quality of the Tesla to be just as premium. The driving experience is also great, handling is solid and a really smooth power delivery, my Merc was no slouch, but the M3 would leave it for dead.
A lovely feature was pre-heating the car this morning a few minutes before leaving as the car was completely frosted over.
For those curious about the collection range, I had 27% battery. I drove around Baldonnel for a while to get used to the car and then stopped at the Applegreen in Rathcoole to charge at roughly 23% left. Unfortunately, two of the chargers were not working, and the other two were in use with one car waiting in front of me. Waiting wasn't an issue for me as I was in no rush, gave me some time to play around with settings etc. However, for first experience with public charging it wasnt great, and I wouldn't want to be in a hurry needing a quick charge. I have a trip to Letterkenny next week where ill be tight for time and am already a bit worried as ill need to stop off at least once.
TLDR: Happy customer
Thanks for this, very useful as I'm picking up mine tomorrow :)
Congratulations allybhoy, wishing you many years of happy motoring! Thanks for the tips & reassurances - will be helpful. I’m still waiting (Jan 31 - Feb 15 from a mid-Nov order) but can’t wait.
Enjoy the car! Oh one other thing i forgot to mention, it took me a few attempts to pair my phone initially to the car for the key… it said "Failed" twice.. i just turned my phone off and on and it worked after a restart.
Just on your trip to Letterkenny, afaik, the Tesla nav system shows chargers en route and recently has added availability to that as well. So you can see in advance what chargers are available. You can also plan in advance using ABRP or Google maps.
Not sure where you're travelling from, but Letterkenny should be doable from Dublin (~240km) without stopping for a charge.
