It is more lucrative to charge on night rate and export excess PV, as FIT is higher than night rate per unit.
Yes I get you now, hadn't remembered seeing how big a system you have 😀 So yes for a 15kWp south facing 7+kw is great (I have mixed SE/SW 6kWp and max today was 1.3kW - my total was 6kWh ). With 15kWp what size is your inverter and are you on a NC7 connection or 3 phase NC6.
The former I think,I’ve another battery here to install which will bring battery capacity to 20
The plan for 8 or 9 months of the year is daytime solar is to run everything in the day time, fill the batteries to run everything in the evening and then overnight discharge the batteries down to 20% into the grid and get paid for that and the excess produced in the day can be exported too
It’s designed big enough to have enough power not to be using any grid at all as per my last post and I’ve left room for more panels but we are obviously restricted I think to about 5.5 into the grid per hour, with the nighttime battery discharge sale to the grid at 5.5 or so also at that pace
The future plan is to go off grid altogether but we’ll see how this goes first
(edited to add,I run a business which funded this as a sole trader,so have made full use of the green energy accelerated capital relief on this system in year one, meaning it’s effectively been almost 100% green energy grant aided in that respect plus the normal vat back on the installation and equipment,I also get that happy flappy feeling of doing something for the environment if you get me?)
Got my highest generation since install last November today of 18.3kwh on my 7.92kwp system, pretty good considering the 15deg angle of the ground tubs is not at all optimal this time of the year.
us with the low angle, our time will come dont you worry :D
23.6kw the total ended up here
Kwh 😉
🤣🤣🤣 💪
15.9 today and Jan just surpassed Dec for total output already.
I had 16.9 today which just about equalled the first 14 days of the month 😂
Is the plan to be off grid on a day-to-day basis or by the end of the year to be net off the grid eg you generated more PV than you used. Build up enough FIT credits that you wont have any bills come the depths of the winter.
A mix of both really
Ultimately,it’s to have enough battery charge even in winter but I think that’s not achievable as bleak mid December even on this system hardly did 5 kw total
I do want to add a ups standby generator as currently if there’s a network outage, you can’t use the solar as it’s not an island
10.5 yesterday and 9.5 today. We're half way through January and have already surpassed the entire month of December production wise. Things are looking up!
4.4kwp sse
just 12.4 here in Arklow today on the 15 ground mounted south system
Is it 15 panels you have or 15kwp system?
26 575 watt panels,so just shy of 15kwh
Ground mounted south facing
If there is an outage you can continue to use solar and battery via the install of a changeover switch
18.3 kwh is really high for a 7.92kw 15 degree angle. What's the make model of your panels?
Wouldn't have thought it was overly good tbh decent alright but I'm looking forward to March September when the lower angle will help. Jinko 440w neo n type panels.
It's good for the time of year
just 4.2 here today in a mostly cloudy Arklow day
Question I haven’t asked yet,if I install 3 phase power here, easily done as the line is beside me,how much power could I upload then versus the current single phase line?
There’s plenty of room for more panels
I was told to create an island which is what it’s called,I’d need the pro version of the inverters which are on order
But also ironically a diesel generator to power an automatic change over switch in the case of a ups
The latter is what I’m looking to do
I already have a pto driven generator (tractor) which I can use at present but have to isolate power to the panels and inverters before I turn that on as there are surges which could damage the inverters so this may be overkill
But we’ll see first what the year makes
power rocking in today
Currently 8.02 coming from the panels
12.4kwh the total production up to now almost 1pm
highest production to date in this new system 27.2 kwh
Anyone have an issue with the fusionsolar app today?
No, no issues here yesterday.
Best day of the year…14kwh off 8kwp
23kwh today for me in Arklow and15kw of battery 100% full 👌
was a lovely day here , managed to get 0 from 7.4kw system .
no grid power!
worth islanding the system as a future project?
