More posts removed today than I was able to read 😂.
The chap I was talking to in Penny's thought their latest move was madness and would be reversed.
I always wonder how it stays open,it's so quiet In their anyway
I wouldn't agree its so quiet, its busy a lot! I'm sure not busy at certain times like any shop, but its definitely one of the busiest shops in town!
Shops are really tightening up security. I walked back out through Manor tesco and alarm went off as if I had picked off stuff. It is now near impossible get out of shops without going through the checkout tills
I don't mind going through tills but to have been watched scanning and paying for stuff and then be told too leave Ive to scan my receipt is ridiculous.
People who paid at the till didn't have to scan their receipt.
The first time that I came across the receipt scanning was in Australia last year and can see no problem with it. It probably stops people taking an old receipt back into a store and getting a duplicate item for free. 😛
It also increases the number of staff by at least one. 😀
I would say it beats the self-service tills in Garvey's with the overhead cameras looking down your crotch! 😂
But in fairness I have to admit I prefer self-service tills than the pesky human-operated alternative. Must make me a bit of a sociopath! 😱
Lidl also have that scan-receipt-to-leave system on self-service tills in some stores. I really wish they'd introduce it here...
I think its a good idea to scan a receipt for security on self service. The people who paid cash are being served by a person who scans their items. They are ensuring the people using self service aren't just pretending to scan. The staff won't be able to watch everyone. Self-service tills are notorious for theft of non-scanned items.
Self service is fine for 1 or 2 items but beyond that it's just cumbersome
I'd rather self scan 20 items out of a basket than wait behind someone with a full trolley load at a manned checkout.
The people who say business will suffer as a result of self scan and won't shop at Penneys anymore...where else are they going to shop instead for those types and ranges of clothes at those prices? Ryle Menswear or Pamela Scott? People typically resist change until they get used to it. I agree though that there should be self service tills on all floors and not have to traipse down 2 floors to pay.
When they took the changing room off the mens floor and told me I had to go to that ground , I dumped the clothes in front of the staff member and left. This weekend was the first time in 12 months I was in the shop.
I shopped at Dunnes online and other online sites
That never actually happened did it?
I hope you didn’t dump them on the ground, for the employee to pick up, even though they had nothing to do with the decision made about the changing room.
Actually it did. Left the bundle of clothes I'd spent half an hour looking for on the trolley in front of them. I certainly wasn't wasting my time putting them back on the rails
And I wasn't going to bring clothes down 2 floors to try on only for to find I needed a different size only found 2 floors above me
I think I went over to Dunnes that day
Read my post below yours
But why? Its not the staffs fault and you expected them to put everything back because you couldn't be bothered going to another till, despite the fact you have to go back downstairs anyway!?
Id then have to go back upstairs if they didn't fit to get another size and bring that down again. I've more to be doing than running up and down the shop.
Life's big problems!
asshole
Absolutely. 😄
''I dumped the clothes in front of the staff member and left.'' But now you're saying you left them in a trolley something Penneys don't even have 🤔
No sign of the old Quinlans pub opening yet. I see the Quinlans name is gone from over the door. I wonder will they keep that name or rename it?
Yeah, it's like work on the building has stalled again. No activity at the Abbey Inn either.
Just walked through the square and the fiddler bar is closed down. there's a Lease sign gone up by Property partners!
They have trolleys staff use, probably not an accurate word but hey ho😁
It's never been the same since it was Ruairís
Pity but the couple of times I was in the shortlived tapas bar upstairs on a Saturday night, the downstairs bar was surprisingly empty. If that's what it was like on a Saturday night, God knows how empty it was on other nights. I think the outdoor area during daytime hours had started to become more popular especially on sunny days. Hopefully something decent occupies it as its a prime spot on The Square.
There was a lovely Tapas restaurant above the Fiddler, but it closed before Christmas. I see there's also a to let sign on Yummy's, so maybe Terra foods not taking the unit after all..
Looks like a new cafe, artisan bakery and bakery school opening soon at Blennerville Windmill. Great addition!
