I’d imagine in error alright. A bit of a shitter for Mark. As in someone else has screwed up and they can’t push the finale.
Just listened to the finale of stakeknife there. I'm not sure what to make of the series. It started out as if there was going to be some big reveal in the series, but we didn't really learn anything new, it was just a good summary of how awful things were around the man and how he got away with so much with the British state looking the other way.
I was amazed Mark said they spent 3 years working on this, I don't see what took so long. And there was no need for 10 episodes, dragged the arse out of it in the middle episodes.
Yeah. I listened to the first 4 or 5 episodes of stakeknife and didn’t bother with the rest!
It was fascinating and educational with some very interesting characters like the ex-security agent who records everything but they really dragged it out and lost focus. Like Episode 9 was deliberately about someone who had nothing to do with Steaknife..
I hadn't gotten the impression there was going to be a big reveal myself. Scappaticci's dead.
I think it's after getting a lot of first hand interviews with people who lived through a mad and significant time in our country's history. That in itself is a good reason for its existence.
I thought Stakeknife was very good (have only listened to 9 episodes so far). It’s a deeply fascinating period of history and you forget the extent of the lives ruined without projects like this. I went in with a brief understanding of Stakeknife but found this good to explore that in much further depth.
I can well understand how it took 3 years. A lot of getting to know people to get them comfortable with speaking on the podcast let alone all the research involved. I’m assuming they were both doing other bits over the 3 years also.
Very odd, episode 10 of Stakeknife was in my feed last night (castbox). I fell asleep listening to it. Went back to finish it this morning, and it's disappeared.
Edit - I see posted above that the episode was released by mistake. I'll wait until next week to listen to the finale.
Scappaticci's Dead, is that a Bauhaus song?
Is the second episode up from today?
I got no email and it's not on my feed
Edit
It's there now
I haven't listened to it in years. I posted because I needed to find stuff to post about to get access to the soccer and politics forums. I don't really have many other interests so it was hard to hit 50.
The lads were spectacularly wrong on the ridiculous Arsenal red.
I don't agree. I think you could make a reasonable argument it was a red, which Ken did.
It'll be interesting to see if it's rescinded.
It has been rescinded.
It was a trip on the edge of a opponent's box it was nonsense.
Well that's fair enough, on balance I didn't think it was a red.
The issue wasn't the professional foul, which is an automatic yellow. It was the nature of the trip. It was a little reckless, studs raking down the leg with the ball nowhere near. As I say, not a red for me but I can see why Oliver might have felt it was.
I was surprised both SCs and the Joe Molloy pod both argued that they could see why Oliver gave a red.
I thought it was a really bad decision and Im glad common sense prevailed. I think its odd people call it "reckless", it was just a shite attempt at a trip.
A shite attempt at a trip is reckless if it causes you to scrape studs though
More US Murph and US sports, less rugby and gah 😃
I'm not sure of the the argument ,, but the arsenal red was one
Well the FA agree it was a mistake to give a red.
No force, low speed, player not endangered. I'd call that shite not reckless. Common sense prevailed.
I mean it was a sure fire red . A professional foul stopping what could have been a goal scoring opportunity. Delighted to see it
You know the red has been overturned by the FA?
Yes , which I think was a mistake
Lol - they literally said it was a mistake and rescinded it. And some people still can't accept it. I'm no Arsenal fan, but those Oliver stats were incredible.
When you haven't heard it in a while the Jack Charlton Conor Walsh interlude is outstanding.
If it's a red card every time a stud touches someone there'd be 6/7 in every match.
Glad some common sense prevailed and also more importantly that Arsenal weren't robbed of points this time.
Imagine defending that red card. Absolutely hilarious carry on. Some people are just football daft.
On a sidenote the audio level is shocking all week again.
Whatever about whether it should've been a red card or not, the Arsenal fans continue to come across as paranoid nutters. Which is always fun.
Jesus who cares about an Arsenal red card??
*Not red
They weren't paranoid. They were correct 👍🏻
