The general public would sleep through anything for sure. A 'few' will understand

    Good morning

I hope our west coast friends are doing OK

South Dublin just started getting very loud, my bedroom is south facing and it's taking a battering already

On the verge of giving up trying in Ros now, so I'd say you'd need to be a very heavy sleeper!

Nothing but respect for the crews that will be out to deal with this tomorrow

when is the worst of it due to hit us? Few more hours of heavy stuff yet I think

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,669 ✭✭✭Klonker

West Offaly and it is as loud as any storm I can remember and we're not in red warning til 6am. Lights flickering too. Think I might be done sleeping for the night, more from the worry than the noise.

In east clare. Very bad. 1 had 2 full sized old railway sleepers on the trampoline and one of the old heavy fibre glass ladders. The thing still flipped over.

The sleepers weigh 80kg each! Fully expect the place to be wrecked in the morning.

Power gone the last half hour.

Might have to ask the french lads and ladies to come back.

    This too shall pass.

Just woke me up in south Mayo.

Airpods have gone on to block the noise. Electricity keeps cutting out. This is dreadful.

I think we're peaking now actually and the worst will be over by the time the red warning starts. It's all the aftermath that'll cause problems in the morning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 465 ✭✭Condor24

Good luck anyone who slept through this. I envy them.

Theres something whistling in my bedroom but I don't know what. I think it could be the light swinging.

people asleep now are the people who can sleep on planes so jealous of them

    3 strikes and I'm out…

3rd power glitch in Headford has done the job. Working off battery now and a pretty weak signal.

I'm old enough to remember the storms of the 80's and 90's. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this and to be honest, I don't think I ever want to see the like again…

Ah feck, thought I'd escaped the power cuts but it's out now despite it staying on through the worst of it.

    🙈🙉🙊

I sleep easily on planes and I also like a little turblance but this storm...this is unreal. I slept for about an hour and have been awake since.

Oranmore Galway. Sounds like there is a tank driving around the house. Banging, smashing and breaking glass. Feels like the roof could come off the house. Real scary stuff. Predicting some significant damage around Galway in the morning.

Trim Meath here, And all I can say is it's violent.

This is Topping the mid 90s Xmas Storm as being the strongest I can recall.

Hard to believe, but at 40,000ft it's relatively calm right now.

Longford, woke around 3.30, power went out shortly after. House is being absolutely buffeted with the wind, in my 45 years I've never experienced wind like it. Keep the heads down folks, this is fuckin hairy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 781 ✭✭✭caddy16

Consistent winds here in Ennis, no sign of easing off yet. Haven't experienced anything like it, hoping by 6am the worst will have passed. What carnage daylight will unveil is anyone's guess.

Mad in East Galway City. Very loud. Trampoline still in place but some of the supports have caved in.

Must be a tight night on the Porcupine Bank.

Meanwhile this thread has gone past 500k views.

Sometimes there's some calm-ish moments and then the winds come back again. I wish it could all just be over.
