I get the desperation to make it about that, there was another child before in the school with a similar request he didn’t kick off about and he didn’t even teach this child anyway. He did it to make himself a martyr to conservative bigots like his parents when he thought it would gain the most traction. he didn’t have to interact with the child could have just used their name even if he did. He did something to get himself sacked that would have got most people sacked and then tried to ride a white steed and make himself out to be a victim. his own decisions have lost him his job likely to never get another normal teaching post and got himself in and out of prison. It’s about him and his actions not the schools and certainly not the poor child.

Never said he was arrested for that either. But that was the issue that led to the school taking action and suspending him leading to the law getting involved.

I think the motives of anyone who deliberately isolates their kids from others is at best suspect and at worst abusive.
The Burkes were brought up deliberately isolated and were indoctrinated in an extreme form of evangelical Christianity. They were essentially raised in a cult.

Those who go to school are interacting with their peers for a few hours every weekday for over 10 years. Those home schooled in primary and secondary are not. They can interact with their peers outside of school hours but their parents would have control of that.

I've read those orders and while IANAL, I read nothing about the fines ceasing to apply.
It seems like no one knows what the fcuk is going on at this point - EB didn't even bother showing up in Court for it, he sent one of his brothers to take notes.

Is it a case, though, that for the Burke family there was some degree of isolation, based on religious beliefs? Most of them seem completely incapable of interacting with other people in day-to-day scenarios.
If Wilsons don't want him jailed, then they really need to progress with finalising his termination of employment. He will look foolish showing up at Wilsons proclaiming to anyone that will listen that he has "turned up to work" and it's up to the courts if they want to pursue his fines but at least he won't be getting paid for doing fup all.

I've no idea, and I guess most people here who are pontificating about causes have no idea. It's not a hugely unreasonable hypothesis, but if it was true, the solution does NOT involve banning home schooling for the few thousand other kids who benefit hugely from it.

David Coleman is a highly respected psychologist, especially in matters relating to children and teenagers. Interesting that he didn't recommend withdrawing the child and start home schooling so you havent demonstrated anything there. Withdraw kid from bullies and keep them at home? For how long? Nonsense. You either resolve it with the school or a last resort would be to move child to another school where they could interact with other kids.
The burkes seem to think the student, the classmates, the staff, the legal system and the taxpayers are 'fair game' so its a bit pointless playing the victim card on the burkes behalf.

It seems that things are afoot on the state side of the Enoch Burke story, though the school has not asked the high court for a new committal of the defendant to prison despite him returning to and entering the school grounds since the school term resumed. It seems EB wrote a letter which continued his justification of his actions, the judge reading it out at todays hearing, which EB did not attend.
