I don't have a problem with that either - most of the time it's great to be asked do you want the 10 euro one instead the 30 euro one ..
I would have thought it unlikely that they sell these online, due to the potential for abuse.
In fairness, the 'cheaper generics' approach was spearheaded by Healthwave, not a big chain - a single outlet store who really disrupted the industry when they opened, would it be ten years ago now?
really? I had a big argument with Laya on this. they refused to prescribe me ventolin unless i was getting a steroid inhaler with it. I told them I don't use them because of side effects (basically constant mouth & throat infections) and that i needed ventolin. Their response was that it was too risky to just prescribe ventolin on its own….so they rather preferred to prescribe nothing! Bizarre
You can just tell the pharmacy to not dispense the steroid inhaler rather than have the argument there, unless your pharmacist is (also!) incredibly weird about it.

Healthwave is pretty good. Just moved from Pure pharmacy (20 per month) to Healthwave (47 for 6 months) and there is some free delivery..
To be fair, generics have always been an option but unless your GP writes the drug name, as opposed to the brand name, the pharmacist doesn't have an option to give you the generic as they have to follow what the GP has written. I used to get the generic of the medicine I was on as a teen (which is a fair bit more than 10 years ago) as there was a shortage of the brand name one so the GP would write the generic & the pharmacist could then dispense any version of that drug for me.
Generic substitution was introduced in Ireland well over a decade ago. A GP has to mark a brand name as "dispense as written" to prevent it being substituted.
Like I said, my main experience was more like 20 years ago when so apologies. But my point that generics were available before Healthwave still stands.
Yes, generics were available, but Healthwave were the first to build a business based on generics.
I was told different. They could give me the generic unless the doctor put "do not substitute " on the script
This has been the case since 2013, but a decade plus old anecdote was brought up.
Did that previously. they did query why i would have a prescription not being used.

I often don’t get items filled from a script; a GP would regularly put a med on a script and might tell you to e.g. wait a few days and see if you need it etc. unless they are privy to the doctor consultation don’t see how they can ask that
ah apparently guidelines have changed in the last few years and you shouldn't need a rescue inhaler (eg ventolin). instead you should use a steroid based inhaler every day. I find the steroid inhalers leave me with a dusty feeling in my lungs so end up using the rescue much more because of it. absolute pain in the hoop. and ventolin is EUR 7 vs EUR 40 for the steroid inhaler.

That's actually cheaper than you'll pay in most chemists, don't think there's as much sellers of solubles and then obviously the Panadol name.

Soluble tabs have always been way more expensive, Panadol has always been more expensive than generic
Soluble tablets are always more pricey. Those exact same ones are €9.70 in McCabes. Normal paracetamol (non-soluble) with caffeine is €6.
I think you do get what you pay for when it comes to painkillers, though. You can buy the same dosage paracetamol for a third of the price, but will the quality be the same? I don't know, which is why I'm asking, but I think it's something worth looking into. Is there any more to the quality, efficacy and absorbability of a medication, other than simply the mg amount claimed on the packaging?
The soluble product will absorb faster into your body therefore will always work faster on the pain and also easier on your digestive system if you are sensitive to the ingredients.
