That’s correct. And then the sterling collection. Euro/pound was on par and it made buying from uk so attractive even the bmw main dealers got in on it.
I swapped that golf R for a 2008 sterling collection 5 series mSport Touring actually :)
Seen another today a 251-Ke red Ford Explorer. Looks well. It belongs to my uncle in law. I did not know that the first time I seen it but found out not long after. He changed from an MG4 to it.

Right my mistake. I was a paid subscriber to boards back in the day and just thought it was still a thing even though I could not find it. I block ads as there was really annoying ads on this site that I clicked I do not want to see this ad anymore but Google kept posting them. So I blocked them and thought I'd become a paid subscriber to the site to give a small bit of money since they make nothing from me as I blocked the ads.

Ya but I remember back then wondering if we were actually going to see 5 series being sold for low 40s because before the vrt change, they were over 60k. It was almost too good to be true at the time and prices quickly increased to what people would pay and nowgone to silly levels altogether.
100%. January 2009. Just after the CO2 changes. They were flying off the forecourts at that time. Plus the fact that the F10 was only around the corner in 2010.

Lovely looking bus, similar to the megane just bigger. Thought it was an EV3 from the side as i first noticed the wheels.

Nice. Did you go for another Clubsport or a regular GTi? Going by online reviews the base Mk8.5 GTi is now supposed to be way closer to the Clubsport in terms of overall package than the Mk8 was.
Yes, another CS. And yes, they’ve definitely packaged the standard car far better than the last iteration. But I still feel the CS is really the pick of the bunch, the one to go for. It’s only a “little” more than the regular GTI for a much nicer all round package - and significantly more palatable money wise than the big brother R.
Yeah it probably would be a step down going from a Clubsport to a non Clubsport. Good luck with it.
Mk8.5 R will probably be a lot rarer on our roads I'd say but then again who predicted that M5s would be rolling out of Irish dealer forecourts too.
