And what's so special about that cow. She looks very plain to me. Certainly no show winner.
What production would good cows like those do in a grass based spring system getting 1 ton of nuts per year?,6000 liters?
he’s selling 590-600 kgs the last couple years with a spring calving herd
Lads forgot that you need the management to go with these cows to realise their potential. Jamie was a very good farmer. Just grazed grass, meal and grass silage
you can't beat an on farm clearance sale to get the big prices there is a great crowd there in fairness
Maiden heifers are making serious money up as far as 2k
Feels like the monthly argument , High yielders vs ebi breeders beginning.
How do sole traders manage tax wise in their clearence sales
whatever the argument that sale has shown high quality cows with records and good shot milk with good % will continue to be a premium

be interesting to see how powerful the pharma and IT lobby are……farmers crucified for use of nitrogen/ammonia, be interesting to see the free pass given to secure national employment…..were a very very poor country without the US IT and pharma sector propping the country up
had a Meath co co farm inspection just before Christmas
got notification of a Fingal farm inspection next week
Got to love living on the border
Anyone buying meal of tirlan? Never bought dairy nuts off them before, there's abit of a rebate with them atm.
your own money back, i find that they are ahead price wise the whole time
Using them a good while, no complaints. And I normally complain about them
Be very careful re what spec nuts your after they have floor-sweeping 14/16% nuts at low prices but once you go into something like their gain premium 16% nut it's 40 odd euro dearer than their budget spec 16% nut...
In fairness all meal companies do that, cheap and nasty. The proof is in the milk and I'm happy with what I'm getting tbh
the rebate will leave it cheaper than what im currently buying. dealt with them last year alot on stuff to get trading bonus. didnt get it although it wouldnt have amounted to much anyway.
Bumped into a man boundsing us in the local Tirlan this morning. Didn’t see him in years. Had a great chat about cows (his family are milking and breeding British FR cows with 70 years), Teagasc, the Journal, ICBF, multi species swards, clover, beef, derogation, cost of getting a heifer from calf to parlour, percentages vs litres, etc
…and more I can’t even remember.
It was like a live version of chats on here. There’s an awful lot to be said for just saying things out loud at times!
It’s the best way of getting information and some advice by meeting people face to face,
A few heifers starting to spring up. Would ye reckon they’ll be a few days or another week?
And a related question: would anyone have a loan of a portable milking machine for a few days til the parlour is wired here? 😂
if your electrician is anything like mine you’d be better off selling them
I’d say send the pic of the heifers springing to the electrician and it might get him moving 😉
Interesting set up for sale at ballyspillane Midleton.dosent appear to have any cubicles or slurry storage.fresh buildings
It might, I sent him a photo of my rifle last week and it didn’t do the trick
Cows housed on new slats with underground storage.
..
milking cows on slats?.not my cup of tea
Niall’s account one of best farming ones on tik tok

That heifer is probably not far from calving, she is springing well. I presume.e thebpi s are well down. Probably less than a well bit they can be deceptive. If there is any lad doing a litbif cull cows near you he may have a milking machine. Loads of lads F@@ked them away.
what’s there ai dates ? I’d say they’ll hold out for another week
Ya, heifers usually make a hard dug if they are on decent silage or a few nuts.
