evening Watchies,
Just wondering if anyone knows how likely the swatch store in grafton street would have some of moonswatches in stock? And if i could just stroll in and pick one up?
I’d guess that strap is 22mm as moonswatches take 20mm straps
Ill check again later but the actual moon watch strap said 18 on the back of the strap ? I also assumed it was 20. Thanks 👍🏻
I got the mission to Uranus one for my wife when they came out and then went looking for a strap for it ,definitely 20mm .
Definitely 20mm, I've an 18mm NATO on my in my photos above and you can see a bit of the springbar in the bottom picture.
Mine arrived, looks nice, hate the strap think I'll get a leather strap for it.
Fnarr fnarr 😛
very nice
I bought a new strap for it since I didn't really like the one came with
I saw that they are now selling these with a new rubber strap?
Did you send it back Corcaigh84?
Also a DHgate homage Mission to EarthPhase. Nice enough but glad I dindt pay the full price
An homage is a watch "in the style of", and many an homage is really a copy with different bramding.
Yours is a fake. It's branded as Omega, Swatch & Speedmaster, not Omooga, Switch and Speedmeister.
People will buy what they want be it fakes, replicas, homages or the real thing. I do think it's important tho to call a spade a spade and not play word games in an effort to present one as the other.
Fakes are a blight, they are getting better and whatever else they may be? They aren't an homage.
Whatever about the madness of paying €275+ for a plastic mechaquartz, paying €20 for a fake isn't really an appropriate "full-price" comparison. If it were? Buying a $450 "super-clone" submariner would clearly be the more sane than choice than a Rolex.…
90% of the watch for 5% of the price? Sure isn't that just good fiscal sense? Or, is trademark theft and funding both criminality & IP theft perhaps not a great way to buy watches?
Homages in the main avoid avoid the quandary. Well those from outside of China do as many of the same factories that make fakes?
Also make homages and even the fake movements are made in factories that also supply their own genuine models and versions. Dandong and Guangzhou both supply movements to genuine homage and original brands, yet also supply many of the "clone" movements that are direct copies of Rolex.
One of the issues that Thirdfox and his Sólás ran into? Was that the microrotor movement he designed his watch around? Was used as a base for fake Pateks and the supplier stopped supplying him as all the production was bought up for use in those and similar. Other micro brands using the movement hit the same issue.
Similarly, Ginault a brand famous for their high quality submariner homages? Started life as "TC" renowned as the highest quality fake of 5 digit submariners.
I'd agree with all of that. If something can be cheaply made to acceptably approximate the original which is sold at perhaps extertoniate or inflated prices, then there's a fiscal vacuum the fake market is all to keen to occupy.
The moonswatch is bar none the perfect candidate here. It's is of course a complete piece of sh1t (in that price range) and sold at many many multiples of it's value. It is imo a scam already (one a buyer is accepting of) and anyone buying a fake of it is just removing the middle mans giant take lol.
It's a fake I'd wear and declare proudly!
Honestly! That's my own take too. I'm actually very tempted by the combo of a fake mission to mars recased in a pagani steel case. 100% fakery but FFS!
I will at least acknowledge that and not call it an "homage" it'll be a 100% fakey fake fugazi!
But?
How cool will it look 👀😁

The link won't embed as a preview but it's worth a click for the steel cases mods.
I have two folks asking me to make one for them. It's just movement rings require access to a 3d printer. If we only knew somone to print a few out B lol.....
Thanks very much for the idea Banie01, as the movement and face was the only reason i got this fake. So in theory I could cut it open and place it one one of these …??

Yep, a AFAIK the pagani case is compatible. It's the one I see most used for that mod. I'd love to see a mission to mars with a red bezel mod too. I think yours would look great with the traditional bezel in black.
My Printer is lying idle and awaiting me to finish off switching it over to Klipper. Printing a few movement rings might be exactly what I need to overcome my procrastination on that front 😉
I'm out of commission for at least a few days post-op next week, but? If you have an .stl? Send it in to me and I'll get the printer up and running and the parts on to you asap.
@H_Lime is this the holder you need? If it is, if I get some time over the weekend I'll try get the printer up and running. If I don't dont sort it before Monday it'll be a week or so before I spend more time on it.
what is going on in here?
You see you start with spurious alibaba parts bashed together ,stick a seiko badge on it , then say it’s not a fake seiko and follow that road downhill and eventually you get to a point where you think a fake version of **** homage is better than the **** homage .
So fakes are bad but not if it’s a a fake you built yourself seems to be the consensus.
Tempted by 😉 Not actually would. Probably the cheapest project Alaska alike would be a mission to mars in a pagani case? Could get it on the wrist for 300 or so... But it's still just that.
My own point is more that folk are posting outright fakes as "homage" when they're anything but.
If someone is going to wear a fake? They need to commit to it, go the whole hog and not try and dress their choice as an homage alternative. Assuming of course, that is. The person knows it's a fake.
On printing the 3D parts for Harry, thats just offering a bit of help for a project he seems keen on.
Exactly, you're learning!
How did mission to uranus go down? Success?
You should do this!
I'm out the gap with my own efforts at the mo unfortunately, two skx to do and my bishop with parts inbound. I can only hijack the kitchen table for so long:)
Given your fondness for fakes I’d assume a fleshlight is your taste .
ah.
I don’t understand why buy a fake Moonswatch.
some people just want to watch the world burn
Because cheap?
Edit - just to expand on this. I've zero interest in buying a regular Moonswatch. I would if it was far cheaper as it would be just for a bit of fun but they're way too expensive for what they are.
These cheap knock offs put it back into the 'just for fun' category.
Watch the watch burn!🔥🔥
I wonder if the bioceramic stuff is flammable🤔
I think that's a challenge!
We've gotta get one of our regulars with a YT channel to take on the challenge 😂
Now I keep looking at my kitchen blowtorch and wondering what else it can do apart from a little flambé and caramelisation😂
