Sure the outgoing model is 48k, you think the new one will be (or should be) lower?
New shape is a bit like all the other Chinese models on the market to my eye, i.e. quite bland and generic looking.
Priced to cash in from initial hype / impatient buyers. It has to be around 45k for to start shifting in meaningful volumes (and shift it will… biggest threat to it is Elon Musk himself).
your screenshot shows the price correctly.
Actually €66500 once VRT is sorted. Deliveries in May, not March, according to Tesla.
New Model Y launches in Ireland at €60,990. Launch edition Long Range All-Wheel Drive. Handy comparison tool on the site. On display from Jan 31st. Deliveries from March.
Virtually no vrt on the Model 3,as it's under 40k.
The VRT cancels out the SEAI grant, and then they add on the delivery fee.
looking to place an order on the outgoing model Y long range … but seems to be a different price at check out versus listing 46 990€ versus 48000€ at check out. Cant seem to find the reason for it and it is even cheaper for model 3 in check outs. Any one experienced this? Many thanks
Clear out old stock before bringing in the mid 40k version I’d say.
New Model Y now on the Tesla Ireland site to order for May. "Launch Edition" only at a whopping €66k for LR AWD with paint, acceleration boost, nice wheels, and some sticky on plastic bits. Nah!
Oh, and 5.9% interest too, as compared to 0.99% for the outgoing model.
I put Continental Allseasons Contacts on mine, I've been using those tyres on my cars for years and like how they perform in typical Irish road conditions.
I swapped mine out for Pirelli PZero PZ4s. They're TO marked so Tesla Original rated and actually worked out slightly cheaper than the Hankooks.
I replaced with exact same as it came with, evo3 T1s. Wasnt worth the risk (for me) of cheaper tyres being noisier or just perceived as noisier by other passengers and having to live with them (the tyres) for another 65k.
Coming up on 35k on my RWD Y and looking at tyres, what are people replacing on theirs? seen the non ev hakooks Ventus evo3's tyreleader are 70e cheaper then the ev version, is the priceworth it?
I have two chargers, the glorified plug is the best option
The best value one he can get. They are a glorified out door socket. BG Sync is €699 fitted after grant.
Hi, my mate is just to buy a new Model Y, what charger is recommended these days with them? just a standard home install. No other charge point, no solar
That is what I was thinking. It was nearing 40s with zero or close to zero finance offers. That won't be happening immediately after the refresh release, but could happen again in 6/12 months.
The standard range RWD was down to 42k in February of this year.
Yep, 46.5k for white.
I paid €46521 IIRC.
Didn’t think of that. If the RWD SR model comes back, that was €45k from memory?
I wonder will it? There are so many Teslas around now that it's kind of getting a bit tired. And there's not a lot of difference in styling between the models. The average car buyer probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a model 3 and a Y.
A few years ago it was a different story, but now with dozens of different brands and models to choose from, maybe people will look for something different.
Is that because the 60kwh RWD isn't available anymore? If they have the smaller battery and single motor again it might be a little cheaper
If you can wait for the facelift Model Y to land here, it will probably drop the value of 2022-2023 models a little bit. Might be more choice too if current owners trade up to the facelift version.
Current model is €48k. I cant see them dropping it by €3k tbh.
If the new Model Y comes with improvement similar to refreshed Model 3 - mainly softer ride, quieter cabin, nicer seats etc - it will sell bucket loads.
I wonder if they are going to price the launch model around 45k here in Ireland? They will have no problem shifting them at that price, plenty of folks would upgrade.
All this despite Musk's horrible shenanigans.
I got a LR Model Y in June 2023. It was part of the big batch of ones that came in around then, I'd been waiting months for it. This at the time was said to contain the new comfort suspension, I don't think anything up to then had. When I got the car I thought I might still have the old suspension as it was very stiff, but I took pics of the parts and they were indeed the new ones. So at a guess I think most 231 onwards ones should be comfort suspension, and probably all 221/222 are non comfort. As I say the ride even with comfort suspension/19 inch wheels was very firm (grand on motorways, noticeably crap on bad roads) so I would imagine prior to that would be worse.
I'm pretty sure I saw a post somewhere (maybe here, don't recall) where someone looked up the part numbers on the suspension of his 23 MY (so should have comfort suspension) and it was actually the older suspension. I've a 23 MY and, while I haven't done that, if what I have is the comfort suspension, the older suspension must be absolutely rock hard! I do suspect it has the older suspension too.
Although I tried hard, I was never able to get a definite answer on this. Musk tweeted at the end of 22 that from 23 all MYs would have a softer suspension, but that was as 'official' an announcement as I have been able to find. I test drove the UK reg MY LR in Sandyford in Jan which was a 2022, had no parcel shelf and the stiffer suspension. Our 23 LR feels identical although it does have a parcel shelf. Our VIN is from around Jan 10th and there were some buyers in the UK of similar age cars also suspicious of their suspension. Some saying that Shanghai would have used up the old stiffer suspension rather than just throwing it out.
