I'd imagine they're getting on in years and like the infamous Lennox in Cork, if you don't have younger family members to take over, it becomes a bit if a millstone around your neck as you get older. Not saying that's what happened here, just a bit of speculation.

i see where clohessy bar in limerick city is close down permentley a fine bar in city centre location with rugby connections and can't make enough to keep going its sad
I'd say we haven't see the last of bar around tralee area closing unfortunately
bars,small shops,butchers,small farms are no longer viable are cripled with tax,energy costs,wages,regulations and red tape .Give a walk into any big shop in manor retail park ,staff are not hard pressed ,shops well heated and you can guarantee workers are earning more then running their own small shop/farm.
I can not see any younger generation ever running small bars/shops/farms the way previosly business were passed down trough generations.
not the case entirely a lot of butcher shop have move into cooked meals along with the raw meat and are doing alright I'd say some small shops have let out rooms upstairs etc the bars are a real worry big investment made with outside socialising during covid etc and nothing to come out of now the massive shock for me is the growth of gyms around the county crowds outside at 6 am looking for it to open mad stuff
Mahony long established butcher good business in Listowel pulling the pen ,just said he is doing ok but long hours ,no holidays says its time for himself to try something different ,we all see it when I was milking cows,working 7 days /week working in all weather as I loved it but when you see waster's on the dole queing up at gym you have to wonder who is the fool!!!

Anyway, Tralee has probably had more bar openings that closures in recent times. Vals, Bridge Lane, McCaffreys. Plus Quinlians and The Abbey due to open sometime this year.
