Does anyone look know what polling and count staff are being paid in the referendum in march?
My sister did poll clerk and 2 days of the count and she got paid on Thursday. She was emailed her payslip too
Paid in Dublin. 1st time to get expenses as a p. O
same here, it's interesting the variation of payments across counties

I’ve done presiding officer this time and the last time and I got 2 different rates of pay. The one this time was €37 less than the last time. Anyone else the same?
Yes, that is normal. Part of the rate is based on multiple ballot papers, or not.
There were two in March, two in June, one in November.
I'm a station supervisor and I received my pay yesterday and payslip the day before.
that would imply the June election pay rate should have been more? How the pay is applied is truly a mystery. My pay this time and June are the same but got expenses this time round. Some are paid expenses plus training even at PC level. There's no consistency at all
ah ok thanks. I just wasn’t sure as it’s only my second time doing PO. Thanks for that.
I wasn't paid for training or expenses. I queried it and they said training is only paid for in person training. They didn't reply re expenses. I agree re the craziness at the lack of consistency with the pay.
I was paid additional expenses for remaining on station until 11.30pm
And in the case of the Dublin County Returning Officer, Training is payable irrespective of it being in person, or online.
There does seem to be significant differences across the Counties. Maybe it would be as well for the Electoral Commission to take this over, as a standard framework and delegate the assignments to the Returning Officer, while standardising all training and payments centrally.
Do you get paid for the training each time or just the first time you do poll clerk or presiding officer. I was an hour on the phone my first time as p.o and think there was video training as well and I didn't get anything for it. I was also waiting with boxes till after 11 that time as well and got nothing extra either. I was delighted this time round when there was a supervisor who let us go around quarter past ten.
the piece re Dublin county ro paying training irrespective of online etc. is incorrect. Appears even within one returning officer the payments are different….
Anyone paid in Wicklow yet?
Hi, I done PC and count in Wicklow and no payment yet. I have tried emailing and phoning the returning office but no reply or answer😏
Oh grand. I done poll clerk back in June and was paid a month to the day later so figured with Christmas and new year it'd be a while longer anyway but when I seen others saying they were paid mid Decemeber thought I'd better check! Not that it'll buy much - maybe a Toblerone and a slice pan
Ah I'm sure it'd stretch to a cup of tea too
Nope. And I also emailed them and tried to call them. SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!
Wicklow payment going through their payroll this Friday 17th Jan.
When would be the right time to put your name forward for the presidential election?
The earlier the better. You could be on a reserve list.
I have received the letter for poll clerk for the presidential election but wondering how to apply for presiding officer instead? Anyone able to offer advice who was in the same situation?
Contact whoever sent you the poll clerk letter.
has everyone got their letters/emails for the election? I haven’t got anything yet
Heard nothing yet 😬
I got mine yesterday morning. By email so make sure to check your spam
Nothing here yet. Am in Dublin. Has anyone else heard ?
My sister got her poll clerk letter this morning in Dublin
I'm also still waiting for the correspondence for Dublin.
They may be only starting to send. Will give few days before chasing
Got presiding officer offer so hopefully anyone still waiting hears soon
