Doubt I'll get my picture taken but looking forward to showing off my 251 when it comes in....nothing wrong with a few photos let people be proud of what they have worked hard for.

I’d say it’s more dealers ask and people feel awkward saying no. Free marketing etc

I've seen pictures on Facebook of people collecting their used car from a dealership. I would straight up say no. Used or brand new doesn't matter I don't want to be all over the web.

Passing their car test is another one I see too where the instructor takes a picture of the person and their instructor car behind them.

I can see where you’re coming from but it would have been nice if they parked it legally.

I’m not seeing how it’s illegally parked?

    Beautiful car.

It’s not. I’m waiting for him to bite……I guess he will disappear now.

Lovely, presume it's the Pro Plus? We collected one in May, tried to convince the Mrs to go with this colour but went with the less flash silver in the end. 29kms on it and zero issues so far, they got them right with this refresh.

What's the yellow line beside the drain grate under the car?

  • Business & Finance Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 17,009 Mod ✭✭✭✭Toots

Tis the pro plus alright. I was initially going to go for the red like my previous car, but then when I was doing the test drive it was in one and I figured I’d give the blue a go. Taking my first long spin in it tomorrow - up to the big smoke to visit the auld pair, so we’ll see in the morning if I’ve managed to set up the “charge for departure” thing properly.

I could be wrong but it looks like there is a parking spot in front of the BMW but the section he is on has double yellow lines. They are faded so maybe he didn't realise. I could be totally wrong but that's the way it looks to me from those pictures. The spot I circled is the back of the parking spot.

Nope. Look at the building. Look at the glass screen. Look at what’s it’s filled into.

This is an old building converted for retail use. It always had big entrance gates into the building itself.

You can see the dipped path. The yellow lines may have been there to stop people blocking the old gates but they are well and truly gone now. Owner used to have a Merc C43.

You can see the DCC parking spots that stop either side of the legacy vehicular entrance into the historic building. They could at some point revert back to marge gates and drive a car in there.

The dipped footpath is the giveaway like I said there is a parking spot in front of him and the dipped footpath and yellow lines mean there is no parking spot where he is. I even circled the back of the parking spot.

There’s no yellow lines or parking spot there nowadays. Theres a parking spots in front and behind the car. So he’s parked legally.

    IMG_0368.jpeg IMG_0369.jpeg

No yellow lines at present but there was in the past. Here’s a snap from 2014.

    IMG_0370.jpeg

My guess is the owner of the building has right of way over the path. Hence the dishing, no parking spot despite the whole road been developed in recent years. There’s always been a Series of good cars there from Golf R’s when they were special to C43 Merc to this.

Anyway, it’s a thread on 251 cars. Not a pedantry measuring contest in a motoring forum about a parked car. Let’s enjoy the cars pics.

What you circled is the front of the parking spot from behind not the beginning of his. Anyway we will agree to disagree.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 42,603 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

    I don’t follow.
Google shows no parking spot there for obvious reasons as it’s in front of the historic entrance to the building with dished path.

Even if it is a parking spot all that would fit there is an original mini. Because it's not a parking spot. You can clearly see he is over in the back and front. Lets just leave it at that.

does the lad who does super cars of Dublin on instagram where the M5 pictures came from spend his days wandering around the city looking for cool cars?

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 42,603 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

I think he does them on foot. Or else he knows where they are parked. Or could be arranged.

So basically, I have no idea!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,662 ✭✭✭MarkN

someone puts a pic up of a brand spanking new M5 and the f**king traffic wardens come out to type. Christ what has happened to this website!

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 42,603 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

And they wonder why we loose interest in posting then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,618 ✭✭✭JoeA3

Yeah. The PCP guy finally fecked off it seems, only to be replaced by off duty traffic wardens. That M5 looks incredible. And really nice well taken photos too. How could the first thing that comes into one’s mind be the yellow lines (or lack of) under its tyres? Sigh.

it’ll probably be the biggest year in the history of M5 registrations in this country. I’ve a red one in a few weeks I’ll post some pics but it’s a 242.
