Starting a thread for 2025 gigs as they'll likely start rolling in.
I'll arbitrarily throw in Rob Beckett playing the Olympia on the 26th September 2025 which went on sale today.
Alex solo album next year apparently with a single or two this year
I'll happily have a bit of that, was probably always the natural progression from the band I mean they've achieved everything like what more could they do without burning themselves out,
I missed the shadow puppets run when they did a few nights in the Olympia, I'll try and get to one of his shows, tickets be gold dust anyway I'd imagine, I'd say he could do a few nights in theatres problem at all, would probably make more sense logistically anyway
Can't wait for the Arctic Monkeys reunion of 2030
Not really true though is it? Was the last show of The Car tour, certainly not spoken about as their last ever and Arctics haven’t been a consistently active band for ages now.
Would be very clever of them to disband and have a reunion, wouldn’t be a million miles away from Oasis.
Anyway, would recommend this if anyone’s around
Be careful what you wish for. They might become the killers mk2
Oasis reunion was another level and imo will be a long time before any other bands 'surpass' it
yeah it’s true it was treated as their final ever show. Tons of family/friends flew in and even they were commenting how it was being treated as last one. see Duffy 98 post above for more on it. Few different Irish media outlets after it commented that the 3 arena shows were rumoured to be final ever shows by them. They toured thought out 2018/2019 and 2022/2023 with the last two albums and given that 20/21 were write offs for everyone that’s pretty active by any way you look at it.
Buzzcocks in March
I was at that show (and one several days prior as well). The rumours online never had any real basis, mainly stemming from lyrics off The Car.
Given how often the toured and released albums from ‘06-‘13, there has been much longer gaps between albums post AM. There isn’t really any getting around the fact they are consistently as active as they were ~15 years ago and a lengthy gap was expected following the conclusion of The Car tour.
Perhaps not in Ireland but in England an Arctics reunion after 15 years away would be ginormous. Not as big as Oasis but certainly the biggest since them.
Not sure it applies here. Last time I seen them play a solo show was La Riveria in Madrid which is the same capacity as the National Stadium (infest the rats nest had just come out and they'd as much if not more mainstream then)
They've a big cult around them but looking at streaming numbers they'd be at the same level of... say...Amyl and the Sniffers who played there recently.
I remember thinking jesus the bass player has really changed his style and got a lot more creative when listening to the last couple of albums, turns out Alex took just took over duties for a lot of songs. Could see it coming.
they are deffo beyond national stadium territory at this point. Could easily sell 2 nights in olympia or vicar now here. Doing 2200 cap venues in likes of edinburgh on last uk run. Plus add extra costs of coming to ireland etc means that they will only entertain festival offers for ireland
Didn't want that comment to come off like I was casting shade on them, it's just what I noticed since Tranquility base (great album) it's just quite a shift from AM and previous albums, I actually like the newer material, don't think it's suited to stadiums and arenas in my opinion be class in somewhere like Albert Hall and the like,
If it means some shadow puppets material, solo work where he can get his fill and monkeys go back whenever to a more rock sound bring it on I suppose
The Car never clicked with me, but I like Tranquility... a lot. The things I like about it isn't what I'd traditionally listen to them for and i agree, it's not stadium rock band stuff.
Not an Irish gig but Gurriers are supporting Inhaler on their sold out UK tour next month. That'll expose them to a hell of a lot of people and they've also said that they'll be playing a lot of gigs here in 2025. Onwards and upwards for young Irish indie.
Conflict - Lost Lane, Friday 16th May. Anarcho-punk stalwarts. Definitely worth going to if that's your thing. Barring clashes i'll be there.
when do announcements get going again for summer? Am I right in saying still marlay /malahide to be announced? They’d want to get the finger out
Kings of leon and pearl jam didnt announce until mid - late feb last year plenty of time
probably be a few announcements next week for most people's January payday the following week.
longitude, forbidden, a few more iveagh, malahide and marlay to be announced.
Hopefully Paul McCartney announces a date here or in the UK
Saw The Cure a few years back, can see them announcing maybe 2 3Arena shows
No idea who else is due to tour this year
Can see My Chemical Romance return next year with the 20th Anniversary of The Black Parade
The bucket list is getting smaller which is a good thing i suppose
They've both announced a few already but yeah more to come
NIN announcing world tour this week
Now that would be worth seeing!!
Too big for festivals, does one think? Big stadia etc?
They did release a live at the Albert Hall album after the tranquility album
I'd harbour a strong guess that Sam Fender will have one of the big outdoor gigs.
nah it will be arena shows in europe. Not big enough for stadiums and want own headline shows so no festivals
Honestly reckon he will be 3rd headliner of EP. Nothing solid on it but just gut feeling
Damn, was hoping for his own standalone gig. Have missed out twice previously through last minute life events.
Then again, he might not show up to any gig he's booked for so there's that too.
delayed due to LA fires. If want to see them expect to travel to other countries
