Anyone heard back on the 50% offer?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,185 ✭✭✭bren2001

You don't hear back. It just applies on your next bill.

I filled it out in August. Contract extended a year, half price. No communication from Virgin.

I got the same note at the beginning of March. A couple of months ago contractors hit the road in numbers - one of them told me it was fibre to the home. So my 12m package is due to expire in a couple of days. Yet when I try to check if address has Ffth or Indeed when I rang VM nobody can confirm that the option is now available. This restricts me to VM or Sky satellite. I wonder if the other parties are aware of this ( Sky and VF) and the consequent reduction in available options?

Sky BB isn't satellite BB it's either fttc or ftth, if they say up to 100 meg it's fttc, anything higher and it's ftth.

Filled it out this week because my 12 month contract has just finished and I'm back to full price. I used the link above.

Checked my account this morning and my bill has gone from €70 p/m to €34.99.

This is noted on my next bill…

    "Loyalty Offer - 12 MONTHS HALF PRICE 15 Nov - 14 Dec 2024 -35.01"

Long story short, the link still works!

Hopefully you mean Dec 2025😉. I think it's definitely the best, no phone calls, no messing with SSID's you couldn't ask for better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16 Ms.Informed

No, December 2024. They only do the bill one month at a time… I wouldn't mind paying €34.99 from now until December 2025! 🤣

Well, you'll be paying it up to Nov 25, that's close enough 😉

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,308 ✭✭✭Rowley Birkin QC

Nice one. Where do you see that?

My last bill was Nov 7th at full price so I guess I wait for the next one to find out?

Currently on 500mb Broadband from Virgin Media. Contract is expired. Was paying 70 a month for the last 6 months (was 35 a month for the first 6). Pretty expensive price.

Best they could offer was 55 a month for 12 months, or the same order again (35 for 6, 70 for 6)....both offers to remain on 500mb.

Was rubbish compared to new customer offers:

    500mb - 35pm for 12 months

    1gb - 45pm for 12 months

    2gb - 55pm for 12 months

So I asked them to cancel. The day my cancellation is effective (or even a day or 2 before) can my partner just sign up as a new customer to avail of the better offers? They told me if I did that, there's a 3 month freeze (no new customer can sign up at the same address for 3 months). Seems like rubbish to me, I have moved into Rental apartments before and been able to get VM within a few days even when the last tenants cancellation was within a few days too.

Or should I expect a call from sales team trying to convince me to stay?

No point in ringing them. You've two options, sign up as a new customer, different email etc or use the link the lads here have provided.

if u are on 35 pm offer till summer will it become half or it will stay at €35 as orig price was 70 for 500Mb

Sky gives 1 gbps at same price of €35

Looks like I will just get contract extended by this half price link ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,985 ✭✭✭Roberto_gas

Called them and i was told half price will be thr till end of contract…its more for people who pay full price.

I'm putting this here so people don't have to go back looking for it.

Tried it today and got the confirmation email I'll post back if it fails to go through but fingers crossed.

What's the email for cancellation? Paying 80e a month for bb alone. Going to switch names and sign up to bb and tv for 50e a month. What's the notice period?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,056 ✭✭✭One More Toy

Anyone have the email for cancellation?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2 Deise3000

Did everyone check the small print in their confirmation email about half price for 12 months. Signed up Friday got an email today, but seems to be a 24 month not 12 month contract they have given me. Will ring tomorrow

Coming to the end of my 12 month 500mb €35pm contract. Managed to get that price from great info here a year ago that if you call up and go through with a cancellation then you'll get a text some days later offering the discounted price.

Does it still work like that? I see some talk in earlier posts about a link for a loyalty discount but the link is dead.

Is the half price deal dead in the water? Only seeing these posts now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 993 ✭✭✭heffo500

I called this morning, on hold for nearly 30 minutes.

The best they would offer was €55 so I cancelled and will see if I get a text with a better
