As suggested in other thread, starting new thread, to continue discussion, and reduce the issue of 'Vanilla Tremble' (…another great new Boards feature!!!).
After event, will merge threads.
I've just measured temperature and wet-bulb both 2.5 °C here in Celbridge. There's around a 5% splodge factor in the rain now.
amazing how quickly this happened. my estate is a winter wonderland already….
And its begun. Carrigaline, Co. Cork. About 40 mins ago. Only sticking in parts. Up to an hour ago and since early AM yesterday its been continuous torential rain .. near 36 hrs of it
north Kildare has switched. We’re in kilcock less than 200m from the Meath border and its snow for the last half hour
Few more shots for you.
The roads were quite clear and passable below viewpoint, access to the upper Mountains are rightfully closed. If there are to be issues before sun sets, it's due to drivers behavior rather than conditions.
As mentioned by others, bad parking (abandoning!) and aggressive driving.
Cruagh woods carpark was slushy but usable, mo issues parking or moving once you know how to drive in snow but it will be hectic once the sun sets and starts to freeze.
All in all, don't go.
Had I known how many people were there, I wouldn't have went.
Did get out for rugby training this morning though
Not sure if its a good idea to be telling people to take to the roads covered in snow.
My friend lives in Rathdrum in one of the estates and he has about 3 inches of snow on the ground.
Limbs coming down now.
Still snowing away here in the hills of east clare. Gonna be stuck here for the week.
Winter wonderland.
It's so wet in Dublin we are more likely to have flooding then see snow!
I have to say ME got is spot on for my location. Rain was forecast from yesterday evening and nonstop all day today and that's exactly what we got.
I'm just hoping it stays above 0 tonight like last night so we don't wake up to ice skating rinks for the commute to work and school tomorrow.
where were you on the comeraghs?
Still snowing in south Kilkenny.
I'm about 5km from Rathdrum but crucially in this setup about 120m lower in altitude. We had a decent accumulation last night of about 5cm but it's been raining steadily here since the morning which has washed quite a bit of it away.
Heavy snow on the main Ennis to Limerick dual carriageway at Bunratty, Clare. A rare sight to see such snow cover here. An accident near the Cratloe junction at 1pm has since been cleared. No injuries thankfully.
Getting heavier here in south tipp.
Jaysus. Those are some pictures.
Hard to believe it's the same country looking out our windows. Flooding more likely
Chucking it down with snow and sticking quite nicely now in west cork, lovely, and then I remember the other half has to drive to the city first thing 😩
Heavy snow Clane
Dungarvan to Carrick to Killkenny
Just skirted the side
Plenty people will be stuck there
Snowing lightly
Newcastle Co Dublin
Non stop snow in Carlow town since 12pm
difference between 11:30 and 2:30 north Kilkenny
back to light, sleety snow now in cork city
Snowing heavily now in Naas.
Frequency of ice in the rain increasing a lot in greystones currently, another hour and it could get interesting
Never ending snow near Askeaton, limerick.
Tertiary roads around Whitechurch, Co. Cork passable but good covering now (1-2cm). Still snowing lightly.
Heavy snow falling now at Dunshaughlin, first genuine snow I've seen in several years although it's having a tough time sticking. We have some car snow but the grass still has a way to go.
