As suggested in other thread, starting new thread, to continue discussion, and reduce the issue of 'Vanilla Tremble' (…another great new Boards feature!!!).
After event, will merge threads.
All those in Dublin and co. pretending they want the front to clear and for it to be sunny…
You're not fooling anyone, you'll be sitting waiting for the first flake of wet snow to hit the wheelie bin.
All good things come to those who wait 😁
Some milder air skulking about. Let the low and front move away further to take in lower temps.
A snow snake on the side of the car 😄
It's still coming down here near Killarney, 13cm deep now. Was out for a walk in a woods nearby, could hear branches cracking under the weight of the snow.
No, not yet anyway. It’s definitely gone more sleety now with the odd wet flake coming down. I’m not giving up just yet.
Well, yeah Gonzo could be on to something with his recent post in the FI thread. Let's hope so anyway! Alot of the seasonal winter forecasts seem to have gotten it wrong so far for the second year in a row . Wasn't this suppose to be a predominantly mild winter with snow most likely later in the winter?
get the duck in!!!
it has arrived!!! Kilcock snowing and sticking. Youngest has been out since the first flakes and you’ve never seen someone happier 😂

Yea it was much colder yesterday. I cant see it getting below 0 in north kildare
From the excitement of a few days ago with potential snow this thread is now like a horror story....so much snow down the country and all I got was a dusting. So jealous. Enjoy it folks 😁
I just hope the next cold spell is a classic unstable long fetch easterly. I feel confident that we will get another cold spell before the end of February but will it be an easterly thats the thing.
Ah ok I just don't think I have ever heard of our county having a north, it's generally east or west. I get you though.
can I respectfully suggest Gonzo that you take a break from complaining about the weather where you are and drive out to the hill of Tara or Skryne (both within 10 mins of you) and enjoy glorious winter conditions. Heavy snow and settling everywhere.
Exactly. Around 27th December the charts looked bleak enough. Only 9 days ago.
Had a nice covering on the car - till some kids nicked it to try and build a snowman - gotta love their enthusiasm but how am I gonna judge how well the snow is sticking now 😁 ETA snowing heavily enough now.
3-4pm was some best guesses for the bulk of the front to turn to snow based on the forecast winds for the more snow starved folk. Winds at the immediate east coast likely to stay onshore. But winds already will be switching more northerly inland by now, so it's no surprise even Gonzo has made the switch to some wet snow. If things progress as expected, a switchover in north Kildare and into Dublin will not be much further away.
I hear it's made the switch in the likes of Naas too so creeping towards the Dublin border. South Dublin should see that switch a bit quicker than the north of the county.
By and a large, the hi-res models have done an excellent job on this one.
Cork Airport runway not expected to open until 1630. Nice few diversions on the way
Its trying to snow here in Naas.
Needed to be 2 degrees cooler, no snow past Carlow really and slush even there
The Comeragh mountains we're spectacular
grass here is changing from dark green to a greyish colour. At least i'm seeing some flakes although very wet, I didn't see a single flake last winter or Spring.
Still fricking 2c WBT here in firhouse......the amount of rain we've had if it were only snowing we'd be pasted!!!! Hopes are fading for us.......wah, wah!
Rain has turned to snow in Rathdrum but not sticking yet. It's 3° here so think the temps need to drop a bit for some accumulation to start.
To be fair Met Eireann have got the forecast for today in Munster anyway spot on.
Sadly North Dublin is pure cold muck. Not even sleet.
View from my front door, Portlaoise.
In the T120+ thread, we did speak of it turning colder by New Years. There were clear signs. I am not into seasonal forecasts myself. Talk of MJO phases, El Nino, La Nina etc, while scientific and legit, can become headwrecking.
It’s snowing heavier than before here in cork city.
Absolute snowstorm in Clonmel. Had turned to rain but now snow again.
