As suggested in other thread, starting new thread, to continue discussion, and reduce the issue of 'Vanilla Tremble' (…another great new Boards feature!!!).
After event, will merge threads.
I have never seen snow like this in Clonmel. More like the week I spend in Sundsvall in Sweden. Roads are now becoming impassable.
heavy snow in Limerick city the past hour the strongest its been this period!
Jealousy killing me in Dublin. Even to see snow falling for an hour would suffice at this stage.
Definitely the best snowfall since Emma where I am anyway. Really surprised as it was raining here at 9 am. Whatever milder sector was eroded by the colder air.
it’s been relentless altogether! Non stop! How long left in it I wonder??
Snow and rain on and off here in cloughduv - I expect it to turn to full snow from 3pm hopefully- what is falling is turning the place white & slush. I had lost hope but hopefully it turns from 3!
Snowing quite heavily now and has been for the past 45 mins or so, nice big fat flakes covering up the earlier slush that had formed. Proper grey heavy sky and teaming snow.....love it! 😁❄️
It's a perfect heavy snow sounding, with a deep saturated layer -2 to -10 °C up to 600 hPa. It's an awful pity we didn't have a proper cold airmass in place, as in a direct hit from that northerly a few days ago. It sideswiped us and headed off over the North Sea.
Plenty of snow scenes today, but it's that awful sloppy mess at low levels.
Must be like lapland there now. I think at least another 4 or 5 hours anyway judging by the radar. Seems to be stalling and then will push away south east later this evening.
I am at relatively low levels near Mallow and its been snowing away nicely for last 3 hours now. The snow is not powdery but then rarely is off the Atlantic.
Move to Connolly - 100mm here now :) Still snowing very heavily.
Ah, I can see sleet now.
wouldn’t be to quick to say that just yet. Still plenty of opportunity as the afternoon/evening goes on. Although won’t be much there could be a nice dusting by morning.
Torrential non stop heavy rain in SCD.
I’ll be donning the waterproofs in the next hour to bring the dog out methinks.
My weather station is trending as you’d like to see. Temps and DPs dropping steadily over the last while. Now 1.4 and 1.1 respectively
Edit:- as I typed fell further to 1.3 and 1 respectively….
I find the finer powdery snow accumulates better than the bigger flakes.
I need to get a weather station.
Sure, but it allows the snow to slide off.
it’s fantastic to see. Another 4/5 hours of this and then to freeze! 🥶
Some snow starved green eyed monsters (myself included) watching ye all from Wexford today. We were spoiled during storm Emma and we have been longing ever since. Doesn’t look encouraging for later, temp currently 5°.
Dublin mountains getting a right pasting
Its mad, we got good snow from that system in November here in Galway City, and this time around all we got was sleety sleety rain.
Some lovely pictures coming from West Clare from family and friends. Very jealous.
We were snowed in, in the beast of the east. Hasn't hit the comeraghs hard at all. 250M ASL and only dusting.
Puddles from rain last night frozen solid though.
Shannon AP reporting Moderate Snow and 0c at 1300
Same in Dublin 15. Truly horrible day, grim, bleak, lashing rain, cold and windy. Would love a bit of the good stuff
looking out at green fields and 3.5 degrees here in sw donegal.
Heavy snow now in trim, Co Meath. Not sticking as everything is soaked but feels like temperature has dropped a lot in the past hour
can confirm snow starting in Cork City
First flakes spotted, southside cork city
Can see your hand in front of your face with the snowfall current in Carlow, on top of the 4 inches that already fell.
