As suggested in other thread, starting new thread, to continue discussion, and reduce the issue of 'Vanilla Tremble' (…another great new Boards feature!!!).
After event, will merge threads.
The leading northern edge of the front doesn't have enough precipitation intensity to turn to snow. Will be cold rain and sleet mainly in the black circled area with no accumulation. That's going by what we've had here in Roscommon since yesterday evening. Miserable cold rain. Bring back the blue sky's and frost please!
No, north Waterford, like up at the top side of it.
Really heavily snowing in Limerick now too
is there definitely a freeze tonight, temps seem similar to now but appreciate areas under snow get their own microclimate
pelting snow in Portarlington
From someone who has yet to see snow and most likely won't during this event, thanks for all the pictures!
Waterford City is just missing out on it, currently 2.1c 75m ASL, anything that has fallen has been rain.
Tipperary border?
Not even sleet in Waterford City, stuck on 2 degrees. 31.5mm of rain thus far. I wonder how M9 looks, short spin to high ground around Mullinavat where I'd say it's snow.
comeraghs must be covered?
SNOWTAM from Kerry Airport just before 9 am. 3 mm of wet snow on the runway.
3 mm of slush at Shannon Airport at 11:35.
Well if skies clear as anticipated I would think there will be. Met Eireann have it from 0 to -5 tonight.
it’s mad in 45km mins from ennis and we have had nothing
The correct way to mount gutters is for them to be about half an inch below the line of the slates so they don't hold snow.
Need these NW showers to kick in this evening, jealousy killing me in north Ros
wind picking up in Cork City - still no snow where I am, I feel now though that we may get some…such a waiting game sigh
It's been snowing steadily in north Tipp for the last hour.
Yep! We came back from Roscommon yesterday. We could have stayed overnight since nothing has really happened here in Naas. There was mainly rain/sleet forecasted by Met E all week but there were a few hours of snow forecasted that kept chopping and changing and moving days.
Mullingar 100m ASL Cold rain trying to sleet no chance of snow and if it does ground too wet for much of it to stick.
yesterday we had rain till 11pm followed by sleet till 1am and snow till 4am back to sleet and from 5am till now as rain with a small bit of sleet.
There is so much water on the ground here in Naas if it freezes tonight we will all be shlidin to work tomorrow! My back garden is like a swomp. The dog was not impressed. Still hoping to see a bit of snow when the winds change direction later.
Kilkenny Castle and it's still snowing in Kilkenny
same here in waterford, commutes are gonna be lethal in the morning
Temperatures are due to stay above freezing at 1 to 2C.
Too mild for snow?
I can confirm this, being within the circle of doom. Temperatures fluctuate between 1 and 1.5 with a mix of sleety rain, then a flurry of snow, then back to sleet. I just want it to feck off and get back to clear frosty weather. This is vile dross for us central north midlands.
Presumably they are, but they are invisible at the moment, same colour as the sky!
Valentia sounding from 11Z. Northeasterly surface wind, but wet-bulb too high at around 1.5 C. A little higher up and further inland it's lower where it's snowing.
With all due respect, that wouldn’t stop them from accumulating snow…
From twitter
was out walking in the city this morning before all this kicked off, also couldnt see, low lying cloud
It is still snowing away here in Portlaoise .
With heavier precipitation you'd get snow even at that temperature.
For Valentia thats a pretty good reading for everyone else inland.
