As suggested in other thread, starting new thread, to continue discussion, and reduce the issue of 'Vanilla Tremble' (…another great new Boards feature!!!).
After event, will merge threads.
Still lashing rain outside Cork city ...come on snow make an appearance
Excuse my lack of knowledge but what's Vanilla Tremble. Thought ye were talking about Ice Cream in all this cold 😜🤣
Rain with a bit of sleety stuff mixed in D14, fingers crossed there's enough PPN later…
Bit of sleet in Whitechurch, Co. Cork area (~130m ASL) now as per forecast. Might turn more wintry this afternoon or could stay the same (various forecasts are divided).
The jumping up and down issue, suspected to be caused by ads. Starting a new thread doesn't fix it either. You should discuss it on the Helpdesk threads though:
I'm due to drive from South Kilkenny to Dublin Airport for lunchtime flight tomorrow. Am I better off driving up later today or leaving stupid early in the AM?
Snowing near Mallow and i am at no big elevaton so would expect you'll get snow as day goes on.
Moderate Snow now at Shannon. Dew point down to -1
Ohhh…OK! Thanks for the heads up.
Apologies to all for disrupting the flow of the other thread and I hope all will find the new thread.
Will leave as be, and, as above, will megre the threads after the event.
Wonder when the midlands Athlone/kinnegad will have an epic snowstorm again. Can only really remember one significant snow in the 90s, otherwise always a light dusting thats gone the following day. (Wasnt around for 2010/11)Time to rejoin reality I suppose and get on with it, back to work tomorrow, the joys.

Snowing heavy in south Kilkenny earlier
south Armagh 400 meters ASL currently one degree and it’s raining 🙈
Never dropped below 34F here in mid-Limerick but that's good enough for 5 inches it seems. Snowing heavily again. This is better than 2010 when we got the temps but not the snow.
Renewed snow here in north Limerick City last 20 minutes same transition from 90% sleet to snow ( which was rapid) . Sticking again, despite the ( slight) thaw here this morning.
Snowing west/northwest of Cork city now out towards Donoughmore and Inniscarra!
Turning progressively to sleet and wet snow, falling moderately.
- Graiguecullen, Carlow /Laois border 53m ASL
snow is on its way to Ballincollig so! Lashed rain since yesterday there I was told
clutching at straws for Louth. It’s almost marginal now with the current temperatures but still a small chance. Cooley mounts have a nice bit of snow.
Jeez some places down south are going have to epic snow depths before this is all over. There is going to be some very cold nights ahead. Anyway look out for the elderly living on their own in these regions.
I’m starting to doubt that Cork City will get any snow now - weather app on phone keeps changing to rain as the hours pass but who knows
it’s hasn’t stopped heavily snowing here in NW Cork for the past 2 hours. Had some sleet early this morning and a slight thaw but that’s definitely not happening anytime soon. Dew point is -1
very heavy snow in Clonmel has been snowing since about 10am and that’s on top of last nights. Very difficult to move around in and certainly wouldn’t be driving.
Rain in Rathdrum turning more and more sleety now. I'd say we'll get another covering today. Not looking forward to the commute tomorrow if we do!
a snowman and (baby with top hat) was built in East Galway. Kids happy out with that!
South County Limerick, heavy snow falling after 7cm last night.
80m ASL
Temp 0.2C falling , dew point -0.1 C and falling
To the poster who quoted me on the old thread:
Was the entire country not under a yellow warning from 5pm yesterday? I didn't hear anything from a local drunk- there was massive signs on the M50 and everything. Do you think it was warranted?
ME were talking about a multi hazard event - you don't need to listen to drinks in the pub at all when the "scientists" have been drinking.
There were posters on here giving out to a lad for going for a walk in the hills as he was putting the lives of the rescue teams under threat - were those posters the drunks you were referring to?
Sleet at our gate at 220M, snow at our house at 250M. Very fine margins. Roundwood. +0.8c
I was negative earlier too but snowing away here now.
The ninja snow in north coastal dublin in 2021 was epic. Came out of absolutely nowhere, kids out on sleigh. Was a non stop streamer for about 6 hours of solid heavy snow. Haven't seen that much since in north coastal Dublin
We live 10km from the Vee pass in Tipperary. As it has been lashing rain for nearly 24 hours on our side of the mountain in Waterford we decided to take a drive to the Vee to see what Tipperary looked like. We had to turn around after 5km due to heavy snow appearing out of nowhere. It's crazy to see where the snow begins and ends on the mountain. It's possible the road is impassable further along.
Anyway back home now, snow is beginning to arrive here. It'd be nice to get a few centimetres.
