My screen keeps jumping up and down when I click on a thread?

Any time I click on a thread the screen just keeps bouncing back and forward. It's both on the mobile and desktop site. Sometimes it will bring me back days on a thread. I commented on a thread to day and when I came back It sent me back to the 19th of November.

Between the thread ads, jumping and not going to last post in a thread, boards is becoming increasing unusable.

I must have 4 or 5 forums I use regularly. Boards is the only one with one issue after another.

Yes, it would be a massive undertaking (as was the migration to Vanilla). It would also undoubtedly come with it's own suite of issues.

Let's be clear, it's entirely possible to run a successful message board on the Vanilla platform (cf. digitalspy.com). The vast majority of the mistakes made during and since the migration were on Boards' side. It was a rushed job with minimal resourcing and testing. Any further migration is going to have the same constraints, with much the same result.

The only way out of the current trajectory involves significant investment in the site. At Boards' height, there were (at least) three full-time employees just for the technical side. There's currently a total of one non-technical (part-time?) employee.

A part of the problem was keeping the old posts going back years. Needed to be clean sheet. No migration of old data and the customizations. Park the old site as legacy read only, and move with a clean site. They don't allow replies on old threads. No point migrating them if you're going to do that. Can't even search them anyway. Leave it to google.

Don't migrate. Start over. Clean sheet. Ban all topics which are difficult to moderate.

But they won't do that.

There is no shortage of 10+ year old threads being brought back to life by people so they don't stop it from happening. Most of the time it's by shills or bots but plenty of long term users get caught out by a thread they come across and post in it and then it gains momentum again for a while.

They shut them down for years and years. If they aren't catching them now it because the admin tools are broken and they no longer have the resources to do it. It was dumb anyway they should have closed them all at the start then they wouldn't have extra work on admins of closing them. But no they chose the "more work" route.

This condition is really gotten worse in the last few days. Now even this thread suffers from it. Wish we'd hear something about, well, anything planned to mitigate the problem. The 'frequency' of the bouncing has increased.

Called it the "Vanilla Tremble" on the storm thread, but I realize now that the "Vanilla Shake" is a much better nickname. This thread's starting to show the problem, too.
