    Folks

My bike was stolen from Coolmime train station today. Unlikely I know, but if anyone happens to hear/see anyone on the bike or looking to sell the bike, please DM me.

Any other advice on possibly recovering it also welcomed!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,767 ✭✭✭daymobrew

    Sorry to hear this.

Tweet or message https://x.com/stolenbikesdub - that account has >4000 followers.

Question: Was it locked with the cable lock in the photo? That's a lock that could be easily ripped open.

Terribly sad for their families, glad to see someone has been arrested. That pedestrian crossing is so dangerous, cars break the lights there so often. Obviously I don't know for sure if that is what happened last night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,087 ✭✭✭thomasj

Agreed completely. I've crossed there a few times and even with the pedestrian light green I would still be watching cars coming to make sure they slow down .

Time will tell what happened . I was thinking someone leaving the scene would be an indication of guilt but time will tell . Hopefully they find some dashcam footage .

It is a dangerous road and wouldn't surprise me to see speedbumps in along that stretch at some stage.

I've been stopped at the red light there and had cars behind go into the bus lane to go around me and go through the red light.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,087 ✭✭✭thomasj

I hope a stop is put to this, now that 2 innocent lives have been lost. It's being going on for too long. Anyone breaking lights should be banned from driving , screw penalty points. We've seen the consequences of these actions.

Nothing will happen. There is a well known anecdote that if you want to kill someone and get away with it, use a car.

The lack of enforcement for decades has made drivers complacent, knowing that the chances of being punished are next to zero.

I frequently report driving infractions to TrafficWatch but Blanchardstown Gardai take months to follow up, if at all. This is not fair on the drivers as they won't remember the incident (though I generally only report when I have video footage).

The man badly hurt in an assault outside the Clonsilla Inn last Sunday has ,very sadly, died.

The Guards have made an arrest but are seeking any witnesses and for a "medical professional" who rendered assistance at the scene to contact them in Blanch.

Another senseless late night altercation resulting in death in this City, may he rest in peace.

What's that about? Was there something going on in the park?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,087 ✭✭✭thomasj

It was nighttime Easter vigil in the Orthodox Church in Blakestown.

I've seen them use Lidl as an overflow when the church car park is full but at that hour it's closed.

the council have been cutting down a serious amount of trees along the ongar road over the last few weeks, a huge operation this morning - pretty sad to see 20 years of maturity cut down like that, does anyone know the reason? Impacting bus lane maybe?

It is likely that the trees had Ash Dieback disease. You can email Operations in Coolmine at CasMulOpArea@fingal.ie to ask.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,570 ✭✭✭✭Seve OB

if the trees were diseased would the timber still be ok to use for the likes of hurls or even furniture or whatever else Ash is good for?

    Just curious

I wouldn't know but Teagasc has info on ash dieback and forest management. One page has a video about harvesting wood in an infected plantation. Someone near me said they saw fungus on the stumps.

That all said, Fingal removed all the felled trees so there may not be anything to salvage.

Details are finally coming out about the horrific assault on Mill road in blanch.

    https://www.irishexaminer.com/news/arid-41849829.html

Before courts so not not making any judgements on anyone. Two teen boys arrested, allegedly robbed him and filmed him pleading for mercy.

This has all been reported in the news so far.

Although I've sadly become rather numbed to the increasingly frequent violence and scumbaggery in this city over recent years, I was really shocked at this senseless killing.

Some parts of Dublin, including Dublin 15, now have zero law and order and a deeply embedded culture of inter-generational criminality, domestic chaos and widespread drug abuse. This disgusting assault is the direct product of that.

We urgently need a large new prison now and more juvenile detention facilities. There has to be a stronger deterrent for these sickening crimes.

Justice for Alex Coughlan must be done - and be seen to be done.

They have been removing ash trees all over Dublin 15 during the last year. A load on the Clonsilla Road near Broadway gone as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,631 ✭✭✭JohnDoe2025

I would like to know more about the killing and the circumstances.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,535 ✭✭✭✭dodzy

Call it like it is. 2 toe-rag 16yr old absolute scumbags kick a lad to death and video it. What more needs to be said. Way too much talk nowadays, and f*** all reprimanding. PC has gone to a ridiculous extent. This country is heading for the toilet. It will be unrecognizable in 50yrs.

Not sure what thread to post this in, but I see the council in their typical wisdom, have decided to install pedestrian lights at the Coolmine Industrial estate junction next to the fire station. The positioning seems crazy.

Honestly, it seems there isn't a problem that Fingal council see that they think another set of traffic lights won't solve.

Where exactly? On Porters Road between petrol station and fire station? https://maps.app.goo.gl/YfmhvopMqHBSwh3h9

It is a very wide junction and close to impossible for pedestrians to cross. Even the nearby roundabout is not pedestrian friendly at all.
