Honda Jazz [Mk3 Model 2020] - Are they a good car to buy

Firstly folks a very Merry Christmas to one and all

I am seriously thinking of buy a Honda Jazz 1.3 2020 and looking for feedback from other Jazz drivers, are they a good car to drive/ reliable etc etc

My daughter thinks they look like an old persons car, am 58 btw!

I am currently driving a 2016 Mazda6 2.2 that although lovely to drive and well spec'ed it is very big car. yes coming down in car class but reliability is first and foremost.

So anyone have advice on the Jazz for me?

Definitely get rid of that Mazda as soon as you can. You might be shocked by the trade in offers you get tho as they are known to be very unreliable.

Regarding the Honda Jazz, probably one of the most reliable cars you can buy. I have driven plenty of older ones (2016 etc) and they are decent cars. I’d have no real complaints apart from them being noisy on the motorway

Am 6'3" and test drove one just the other day it was a nice ride and to be honest comfortable enough not as plush as a Mazda6 but something I can live with. Top of my list is reliability - i drive to Waterford maybe twice a month and after that city driving around Cork so easier to park as it is smaller and narrower! Surprisingly the cabin height it deceptive like I said am tall but head not hitting the roof.

Am selling to a Mazda dealer so the offer I got was decent compared to what the likes od ZuCar offered last year, one local dealer refused my Mazda point blank

Are they good on fuel and how about servicing ?

I had a 2007 Honda Jazz (older generation). The car is bulletproof and very cheap to run. I absolutely love the magic seats and how spacious the car is but small at the same time (Does it make any sense?). For me, the only drawback is the underpowered engine. Sometimes you might feel like you need more power, depending on your driving style. Other than that, the car is excellent. It's the kind of vehicle you can keep for years and years. The suspension is a bit sensitive, so it's worth paying attention to that before purchasing. I consider Jazz the best affordable car. Nothing can beat the realibility, and it's much more comfortable and nice drive compared with Toyota Yaris (As the Yaris is for me the only cheap car that is reliable as the Jazz is).

Buy it! It's a great car.

Yes the online reviews speak highly of the versatility of the seating and also the reliability and wanted to hear from Jazz drivers themselves esp here in Ireland

I had the previous generation. A 2010 which I sold in the summer of 2022 with 150,000km on the clock. I bought a SEAT Ateca which has been trouble free but I regret getting rid of the 1.3 litre Jazz. It was a great little car which, as a previous poster said, is bullet proof. I never had any issues with it at all. If I kept it, it would have 210,000km on the clock today. I'm in no doubt the Jazz would be ticking over as nicely as the day I sold it.

The fold down seating arrangement turns it into a van and the lift up rear seats make it incredibly versatile. These yolks are the cockroaches of the car world, they would literally survive anything.

I have a 2009 Honda Jazz and absolutely love it! I bought it in 2019 with only one previous owner. Never gave me any bother. When we bought our house, my husbands Volvo broke down and we literally made the move during covid with just the Jazz. Will hang onto her as long as she'll go!

Question: I did notice some rust near the base of the drivers door and at the rear near to tow hitch. Mentioned this to the dealer he said he would address it. Anyone else had rust issues? Should I be concerned ?

Am bit apprehensive about buying the Jazz however what you are saying here does install me with confidence. I know it is a change from a Mazda6 and being 6'3" tall might sound like a small car for me BUT from what I have hear and read the cabin in deceptive and the ride comfortable

Well got rid of my Mazda6 2016 and took ownership of my Honda Jazz 2010 yesterday. Very spacious inside though way narrower than the Madza6, obviously!

Looking forward to driving her!

Been driving a 2011 Jazz (1.4 99HP) for some years now and it's never given much trouble***. Gets comfortably up to 140km/h on the Autobahn without being TOO noisy. Though I certainly would not call it quiet either. Think 165 is the fastest I've driven it.

Live in Germany and have driven it all the way to Ireland and back 3 times and the west coast of France 5 times and to the UK twice. And a few other EU trips. So put a lot of mileage on it.

Always amazed at the spacious aspect of it as well as the (so far) reliability. We have two kids. On our trips to France we have put in 4 people + 4 airplane cabin size roller suitcases + 4 sleeping bags + 4 deflated air mattresses + a 5 man tent + two large Lidl shopping bags of supplies. And we did not feel compressed or squeezed in. And this was when my youngest was still in a large child seat. He has since this year graduated out of needing the seat so that a little more space won now.

All in all, been a great car for us. Had a Renault Scenic before that which got written off in a crash and to be honest I prefer the Jazz in a lot of ways, including the space. The Scenic looked comparably huge but somehow was less spacious.

I think a large part of it is the back seats. The underneath are a significant storage area. Whereas in the scenic I could barely squish anything under there. Also since we do not use a spare tyre, the tyre hold under the main boot area can accommodate a lot.

The back seats fold down nicely too to turn the entire back of the car into a transport area. Fit some nice full size Christmas trees in there over the years :)

*** The one trouble we did have which I read is actually a "known issue" with that year and model, was with the Air Conditioning. It kept dying in a way that it would only work on 1/4. If you put it higher nothing would happen. They fixed many things but it kept breaking. In the end after a LOT of googling we discovered that it was a "Known issue" and even our Honda dealer didn't (appear to) know this.

What it was in the end was apparently a simple issue with a capacitor/fuse combination on the standard circuit board of the Air Con unit. Whatever the issue was they kept blowing each other (ooo errr). When we brought this information to the dealer they fixed it quite quickly and cheaply and refunded some of the unnecessary work they had done before that.

Going well! Took "Bessy" for her first long drive, that is if you call Cork - Waterford a long drive!!, the other week and was enjoying. Am 6'3" and though the seat is a snug fit in width in comparison to the Mazda6 I didnt get any driver fatigue. I do get a deep dull pain in my left hip area but had that too when driving the Mazda 6

She drove well and is quite comfortable, cruise control is OK not as straight forward as Mazda6 but something I don't use often aways. Fuel economy was great Got 4.8L/ 100km and 5.1l/ 100km. The Infotainment is only OK but as long as I get my tunes playing or a Podcast am happy out

Yes you use the gear stick more as she is lower powered and you do get bullying on the road but I am not a speed demon so for me it is fine. I want reliability, safety and again reliability oh yeah and a car that is fun to drive and she is! Too many people in Ireland driving large SUV's mainly for image and boy do they get close to my rear window!

Remember when Jurgen Klinsmann played for Spurs, he drove an old VW Bettle around London. That man had his priorities right.

There is a recall on the car for the fuel pump I think so will do that when I get it serviced in late summer and maybe throw on some moulded mud flaps.

This car will be staying with me for as long as she runs and I hope that is for a long long time.
