on 6kw systems what are people producing per hour on a bright cloudy day like today?
I’m struggling to hit 500 watts /hr max which is less than a tenth of max supposed capacity
On real sunny days so far since this went live earlier in the month, its max generation has been only 2kw/hr at lunch time making just 9kw for the day and its south facing
I’m quite disappointed especially as I’ve a 2nd 6.5 kw system to add to it
Is there something wrong here?
On the sunny days,it gets a full east to west sunrise to sunset sunshine
Its winter so that's normal, I've 6kw with 3 arrays - 2 x SE and 1 x SW (also a much flatter angle than most roofs) and best I've done this month 5.9 kWh one day, but equally had 2 days where I generated a total of 0.4 kWh
It's December. It's cloudy, sun is low in the sky.
I have 8kW on a 6kW inverter.NE/SW
In may/June on a sunny day I'm generating 6kW from 11am-2pm
ok but how is the person above producing 19.4kw on a 6.1kw system ? On the 10th of December ?
They had sun, not clouds. I'm up in the NW haven't seen the sun in over a week now
Yeah I understand that thanks but I have had Sun all day,I’m in South East Wicklow and the max I got from thirteen 575 watt ground mounted south facing panels was 9kw and max production that day per hour was 1.99 kw/hr,this why I’m asking what could be wrong here ?
My 4.4kwp is currently ticking away just under 500w
I wouldn't expect the system to be working to its full capacity even on the sunniest of sunny days this time of year. The sun is only rising to 12° over the horizon and your panels are probably at 35° if they're on your roof.
Yesterday, low cloud all day in Cork city I
Managed 0.8kw
Your system is 7.5kwp so. Them figures do seem bit low, mine is ground mounted too, 7.92kwp system and i managed 15.1kwh 1 day last week that was interrupted by 30minutes or more of cloud, have high of 17.2 a few weeks back. If you have ground tubs like me at angle of 15deg, winter sun does not hit as good as it would 35deg +.
What pitch is the roof they're on? Makes a big difference in the winter. Mine is 40 degrees and my 5.95 kwp can generate about 4kw.
Post #6277 says where they are.
Pitch on the roof? Not location
I f you read the post I pointed to you would see it's a ground mount.
I read it and still missed that🤣 Point still stands I suppose in that the angle of the panels makes a huge difference.

The orientation of your panels verses south is the dominant factor at play here. ECO_Mental's panels are (i know) facing exactly due south. Anyone, myself included who doesn't have panels facing due south in winter will struggle a lot. This is because the sun is low to the horizon which is bad enough, but if your not facing due south your "slant angle" to the sun makes things even worse. Here's my max instantaneous output by month over the last couple of years….
I've 6.5Kwp setup in a E/W config. You can see from March to October I do pretty well, but Nov→Feb the maximum power is way down. Highest I've ever seen it in Dec was ~1800 watts. Again, this is the low sun on the horizon and my east/west facing panels only getting a small "slice" of the available sun. Note: Those values of nearly 7Kw dont' last long (couple of minutes) in May→Jul. Usually when the sun comes out from behind a cloud and the panels are cool - but once they heat up, the perf drops back to 6kw or there abouts.
1800 watts an hour or 1800 watts total?
Much of the midlands east and SE are clear gin blue sky today,so what are people’s totals today?
Mine is still generating but says only 6.6kw produced meaning it’ll be shy of 7 by dark
Yesterday in the rain it only produced 0.8 all day
Still a few watts trickling in but just reaching 8kws today, yesterday just barely over 1 but tuesday was my worst day since getting the panels, just .4kwhs
4.4kwp sse
Just about done for today hitting 12.3kWh. 8.16kW @ 210°.
A few scattered clouds so probably 12.5kWh on a perfect day.
1.3 yesterday with 0.5kWh the day before.
A great day today for PV generation, unfortunately the sunny days in winter tend to be cold which results in the HP having to work hard driving up consumption.
The gloomy days like yesterday can result in myself paying out only a small bit more to import power as the HP didn't have to work as hard due to the milder weather.
Today = €2.98
Yesterday = €4.20
Happy solstice folks!
0.1 kwh for today 24 DEC 2014 ,
for the record , shortest day stats . managed 1.8
The crew that installed have just left, they made a few adjustments and the power under cloudy enough conditions more or less doubled
Here is what the Solis app is currently showing ,phone timestamp in the screenshot
Did they say what adjustments were made? Just looked at app, had period for few mins hitting 4.4kw today, its sunny enough in south tipp today.
No,except they said they turned something ‘up’
It’s more or less completely cloudy here today in SE Wicklow but it’s definitely producing a lot more power than it was for conditions like today
That's good so, they hardly forgot to connect up some panels initially?
there’s actually 13 more panels up not connected yet, they’ve ordered a solis pro before they’re hooked in
All I saw them do was fiddle with a power unit under a box with a red light and they said they turned it up to max
Partly cloudy skies and it’s now at 250 pm producing 1.94 kWh ,a 7.5kw system ground mounted south facing
It will be a 15kw when the pro arrives or should be
Smells of BS
Skinks
Box with red light likely fireman switch.
Possibly a string not connected.
There's nothing to turn up either... Well maybe if there is a export limit set
