Dummy opening post
It may not be that garda but the superiors he brought it to that rubbished it and he's not calling you back because theres nothing he can say or do about it. If you really wanted to push it on take it direct to the sergeant maybe. Raise it with RSA rep maybe too. Something that brings a bit of noise into the mix. Shouldn't have to though, its infuriating drivers can behave like this with no recourse.
Anything to be said for a bit of public humiliation of AGS by posting the clip on social media? I'm not on Twitter, but I've often seen people complain there and '@' the organisation they're annoyed with… many times leads to a response there…
Shocking that it should come to that though. I suppose the natural result of a general Zero F***s Given attitude to road safety in this country.
You can formally request a review by the local Superintendent of the reason to not prosecute;
That is close, even closer when you freeze it
Fcuks sake 🤬
Someone else may have offered this as well but there's 50 euro on the table from me towards court costs if you decide to pursue this civilly or otherwise. That's an outrageous act of road revenge depicted in your clip.
Utterly pointless one this morning, and close. The guy then cut in front of me only to turn into the road I was going.

Phoned the garda station just now as the garda hadn't called me back. Anyhow, he says he wasn't sure what to do with it as he hadn't been involved in something like this and wasn't sure what, if any, offence would apply.
I did call him but on a few comments he made (such as previously he said he saw nothing wrong with the overtake). I also mentioned that I was in a cycling club and one member who viewed the video said that the driver deliberately did it to scare me. That club member is a recently retired senior member from the Garda Station.
Anyhow, it seems that the video was sent to the Traffic Division for analysis so it's still active. Phew!
This is all the Garda should have needed to see to make a decision to proceed on a dangerous driving investigation (and later for careless driving to be accepted).
I note that someone was killed today in Castleknock - may they rest in peace

First one was deliberate, then watching with window down on a cold day and ready on the horn, assume it was them, before passing even closer. Seen this before, persist with it.
Jesus, sorry to hear that. I cycle up through the Phoenix Park, White's Road and then down past Castleknock College each evening and there was a Garda car at the top of White's Road this evening at about 18:30 with the road closed between there and the village itself.
Yeah rip and thoughts to family of all.
Like you its an area an route on my usual cycle route really brings it home. Same for many D15 cyclists.
I'm surprised it's not more.. maybe the figures are lower after the surge of people cycling during Covid years?

Found this...2023
Presumably the figures who attended A&E are much higher given that the research only looked at those admitted to hospital from A&E
I've never trusted those figures as hospital A&E figures used to include cyclists falling off bicycles off road. That report seems have a small % of accidents due collisions.
The deceased has been named locally as Derek Doyle, a well-known local and husband of Fingal councillor Tania Doyle. Mr Doyle was also the father of Fingal County Council colleague, Hazel Doyle.

Passed that spot today, been away for some of the break. Very sobering to see the flowers at myos pub, on my own commute home. RIP
Just received an update on this one:
Driver to be done under the inconsiderate overtaking or inconveniencing a pedal cyclist so three points and €120 fine*. Happy enough with that given how it was originally going. Plus I'm now in an exclusive group given the rarity that this law is used!
* He can refuse to pay the fine in which case it goes to court and the potential fine jumps to €360 plus five points (if found guilty).
A result of sorts - well done for persevering with this.
WD!
At the very least driver will think twice before treating a cyclist with contempt again, which is clearly the attitude they have.
Bizarre how a close pass charge is €120 but a standard speeding fine is €160, they mustn't have increased that the time the speeding charge was doubled given it was such a rare charge. How and ever the 3 points will certainly sting so he might think of the repercussions in future before deliberately endangering someone's life.
Car entered the roundabout the same way I did. I was slower than usual due to ice.
Uggh, could have been ugly alright.
I suppose it bears asking, did you have the old arm out? If you did there's no excuse for that driver.
I get your point but drivers overtaking on a roundabout to me, more so on single lane ones, just reeks of stupidity and ignorance. Basic road safety tells you not to trust peoples indicators.
I get the point that it would appear they were going straight on by being to the left of the lane but thats no excuse, people need to learn to be patient.
Ah yea, it's cnutish for sure, just wondering did the driver make a poor assumption that Kissy_Lips was going on straight.
On my own commute home, I've to cycle up a hill and along the way I take a right turn so stick the right arm out. Despite having the arm out you will frequently get someone chancing an overtake. Some people are just tossers!
Overtaken by a 181 KK Mercedes on a straight piece of road but with a van oncoming the other direction. Loads of space to overtake after the van would have passed but they went for it before the van reached me. I could feel it coming. The van dropped anchor and laid on the horn, the Merc gave me a few cm. Poor van driver nearly sh1t themselves. The Merc continued without a care in the world. Annoyed I didn't get the full reg but hope they are local and I will see them again. They were so close I would easily recognise the driver and passenger if I met them.
Pointless close pass this morning I've sent it to the company and will see what they say https://streamable.com/gct0o6
I particularly like how much ground he made up after the overtake which made it worthwhile.
