The rent on the Corbett court side of Eyre Square centre must be horrendous or something. In for a spot of shopping yesterday evening and I think the whole lower section around the escalator is empty and only maybe 3 shops left on street level.
Sure isn't the underwear shop, the die cast model shop and at least one other if not two still there (a furniture place and something else). It gets very little footfall due to the nature of the layout and natural flow of people so that's why places never hang around long unless they've a stronger business model.
They are still there. As well as 2K gifts.
Most places at street level are tenanted too: Carraig Donne, Hugmie, Timpson, NameIt, Art and Hobby - maybe more that I've forgotten.
I'm not for a second denying how challenging it is to run a restaurant profitably and I am really sorry to see it go, but I just don't think there was the demand for Éan in Galway city. Their sister bakery - Magpie - absolutely. But if I had to go to a high-end restaurant Rúibín beats it all ends up. Still, the government does need to make it easier for them to survive in general. Fine Gael especially need to be encouraging, not stymying, entrepreneurship especially in a tourist city like Galway.
Sry - my bad ….
My bad … did not read the caption 😞

I was surprised to see that the PoppySeed in Oranmore has closed. Parking was difficult nearby but they made lovely sandwiches.

Goyas closing at the end of the month. They've been informing regulars.
Must be true, GalwayBeo is reporting it.
I refuse to click on anything associated with that online rag but I'm guessing a headline along the lines of "Samaritans on standby as Galwegians devastated by shock closure of beloved and iconic Galway institution!!"
Did the Fast Fit tyre centre in Liosbán (just beyond the multi storey car pound) close completely or just move somewhere else?
Anybody know what is under construction opposite the Trappers Inn - is it just an extension to one of the factory's in Mervue Industrial Estate or is a Commercial unit on the Tuam Road

pity, was a nice little spot. Often went here, staff were very nice.
Some amount of businesses closing, not much opening !!
Probably a fine batch of vouchers that will become worthless in the new year.
Green Party office in Daly's Place gone.
Advertiser opines today
Has been gone since just after the general election.
Do the council care though? If a business closes, isn't the landlord then on the hook for the rates until they can let a premises again ?
So either way, the council are getting the rates or am I wrong?
And already let to someone new https://www.mulleryauctioneers.ie/property/1-2-dalys-place-woodquay-galway-city-galway/
Or not……their other shops are still open for business.
