Starting a thread for 2025 gigs as they'll likely start rolling in.
I'll arbitrarily throw in Rob Beckett playing the Olympia on the 26th September 2025 which went on sale today.
Supergrass for Iveagh Gardens even though they are doing 2 nights at the Olympia a couple of months prior. Bit strange.
both of those Olympia shows sold out instantly and it’s anniversary tour for their most popular album. Summer evening in iveagh might be winning combo
Ha! Each to their own Nal. That Vicar Street gig (Feb '23?) was an absolute belter of a night, place was rocking, Junior Brother stage diving, all sorts and I talked to a number of punters at EOTR the same Summer that had them in their top couple of gigs of the weekend on a very strong bill. Relative radio silence since then meant they've disappeared from the collective consciousness a bit but I'm still keen to see what comes next.
The likes of this below, and plenty others. The seemed distracted by some success and image moulding. And I don’t believe the Fonts are more commercial, they’ve just got better tunes.
Delighted they’re doing Iveagh btw. We’re all rooting for them, as we are for Gurriers, Sprints, NewDad and all that are in the frame to follow the success of the Fonts.
Why wouldn't they do photoshoots. Don't all bands do same?
Personally, I thought the second album was a bit overrated. I think people were saying it was brilliant, because they wanted it to be brilliant. But when broken down, there wasn't really much on the album that results in too many repeated listens.
They just do them badly. It seemed to be more focus on the image than music for the second LP. And I agree re your verdict on it, a huge disappointment I think.
They werent that good in Marlay Pk supporting Pearl Jam this summer either.. Just looked like a band trying to be like Font Dc , and failing ….. Samey samey music …..
In fairness to them, this was EOTR in 2019 and I don't think I've listened to a note of their music since.
Fontaines were on before them in another tent (the Big Top) but I didnt bother with them. I heard their 1 good tune from outside and that was enough.
Dopethrone, Grand Social, Wednesday 19th March.
Recommended for the Doom/Stoner/Sludge merchants. I like their music but wouldn't be mad about the vocals (kinda screechy Black Metal type). I'd still go though!

Strange. This is Dopethrone on Spotify

I always use Bandcamp: https://dopethrone.bandcamp.com/music
On a similar note, has Whelan's Ones To Watch been mentioned yet? Few good names that I recognise...
Brilliant, that’s my new year sorted. Thank you. Stratford Rise, they were one of my favourites last year. The young kids from NI, I seem to remember.
have a nice life playing button factory
Ah thanks . Prefer to be in the Olympia though ,;)
You too !
I'll get my coat …
Thank you though for all the good information posted here throughout the year , yourself @Seathrun66 @Stillill42 @Electric Nitwit and many more .
Great threads 👍
Enjoy the Pogues!
Here's to more great shows in 2025 🙂
earth playing whelans next May. First Irish show in decade
Great, didn't realise it had been that long.
Seen them a few times around "The Bees Made Honey…" era and it was always a bit special.
Just a quick one. Does anyone know if that PayPal "pay in 3" works in Ireland.....tested it there and went to checkout via PayPal and was only getting option to pay in full? Is it only available in UK?
Wouldn't surprise me as it's in effect a credit agreement and rules/regs here would be different
It might be longer if he gets arrested! 😮
...what has he done?
he went to jail 25 years ago for a month and been in recovery ever since.
I heard they are also playing the Pavilion, Cork, but can’t seem to find any confirmation
their booking agent posted about cork date on Instagram but no sign of it anywhere else
Will probably all come out next year. 🤐
Anyone know exactly what the 3Arena are doing next year in terms of renovations etc. Being closed from the 24th Dec all the way to the 19th February (A whole 2 months) suggests some major enough renovation?
The seats downstairs, which are collapsible i.E rows 1-21 are being replaced as at end of lifecycle.
2 months for that, seems like a long time...that the only thing they are doing so?
They could do with improving the food options, i guess more money to be made with drink.
Where do they store the current collapsible seats?
specialist firm flying in from uk to do it. Was rescheduled once already. Yeah only thing they are doing. Concert venues aren’t places meant for eating. You don’t go to a concert for a meal. seats are folded back into area behind sounddesk
