Mk2 and Mk3 Yaris are holding up just as well. Only problem with Mk2 Yaris is passing the emissions test. They don’t seem to be rusting as much as the Mk1 did
The most basic new cars you can get currently would be Dacia Sandero and a few other cheap makes like Suzuki and others I forget the name of but they are more advanced than the Yaris but obviously not as bad as some new cars out now.
My Aunt has a 2000 MKI Yaris 1.0l, runs amazingly well for it's age, the body doesn't look fantastic of course but she has it over 10 years and paid 2 K for it, now that's some value for money.
I don't think there'll ever be a car like it again, it gave her no trouble, only normal maintenance.
I can't remember the mileage.
Great simple honest to God transport and I think we should still be able to buy cars just as basic/simple. Makes me feel like an idiot for spending as much as I did on cars over the years !

My daughter has an 07 1.3 and gave all the problems you experienced, yes it is a 6 speed box, she's still tipping away in it.
Sister has a 2007 1.8 for some time now. Not the worst car ever but it gave its fair share of hassle. Electrics in the main believe it or not. Head unit centre display and instrument panel all needed to be replaced when the car was less than 10 years old and also the catalytic converter. None of them terribly cheap from Honda. They were got of breakers yards as I recall. Passenger window gave up lately. Not fuse, regulator, switch or motor. A bit beat on that one. Leaks along the roof rails into the boot which I believe is a thing in them. Shockingly uncomfortable to sit on the back seat over a rough road. Other than that mechanically it has been very good though. Still very tight considering the massive mileage on it now. One above with the 1.3 litre might be nice for a new driver if the year isn't an issue insurance wise. Never knew the 1.3 litre came with a 6 spd box.
It's a car with no redeeming features. I swear these diesel convertibles were only made for Irish dentists and solicitors.
Roof down so you can smell that diesel exhaust ? No????
@CoBo55 yeah they are well able for it
2014 Avensis original engine, box and dpf nothing bypassed or any of that malarkey.
His link worked for me earlier and I tried it again just now and it still works.
All links are working for me
Same as me.
Just brings me to the cars section on donedeal
Straight to add for me .
Brake light even... Is it just me or are none of the links bringing you to the car in question? I'm just being being brought to the opening motors page on every link.

Put the rear wind visors back on the correct sides and a left rear break light in a scrap yard for €60 .. then this is a grand bangernomic.
Dare I say currently these avensis are the perfect banger once tested
Was only 215k kilometres .. would easily do double that tbh
Yeah, lots of them have been posted. You'll get the usual arguments about the range being crap etc, but at the end of the day there's plenty of them in Bangernomics territory and if they suit someone who hasn't got long distances to cover and just wants a handy car for short school or shop runs etc, they're a great choice
Have any electric cars ever shown up in this thread yet? Nissan Leafs maybe?
Sold now, what was the mileage? Must have been nice?

Wow, when you said high mileage, you weren't joking. It went to the moon and back! Cannot complain really, 1k for an avensis that is still alive is a good bangernomic

Fair enough, I suppose the engine is difficult to access, and German firms aren't know for making access for repairs a priority 😉,
On an older vehicle probably means repairs are expensive.
Still like the look of them
