Starting a thread for 2025 gigs as they'll likely start rolling in.
I'll arbitrarily throw in Rob Beckett playing the Olympia on the 26th September 2025 which went on sale today.
Saw that announcement and definitely know the name, but can't place her. Must have a listen
Ah, now! Go easy! They're quite good!!
her father is Vince power of mean fiddler fame you passed away not too long ago.
ok…
But are they "Festival Icon" good?
Proper announcement of kaiser chiefs for Dublin and Limerick. €58 plus fees for Dublin
She's been around for over a decade, four albums released and all critically acclaimed but she does better in the UK than here.
Works often with her American husband Peter Broderick who has a wealth of solo material and used to be in Efterklang. An acquired taste, but the stuff she's been doing for some time is now in vogue.
She played at the Pogues' gig in Hackney and will again on Tue week. She also sang with Robert Plant last year at the Bert Jansch tribute. Galway-reared and based. Not for everyone but an enormously under-rated talent I believe.
King Creosote in the Button Factory in May. Deadly. Ticket got.
playing cork and Limerick as well
Valid! 'Icon' is a strong word, alright…!
woo hoo got tickets for the Cork gig this am
On the topic of the price of gigs, saw the festival "sick new world" had to cancel completely because it became unprofitable and couldn't shift the tickets between the headliners of Metallica and Linkin Park they were gonna get a guaranteed 5m each... Would nearly explain why there was no gig here for them the price of tickets would have to be through the roof,
I find it crazy now how social media is leading to the massive trajectory of artists like, it seems you go from Olympia to playing huge crowds like that, spoke to a fella at work who never been to a gig in his life and was gonna pay 150-200 to see Zach Bryan, so like that's the type of crowd, and it's all about insta pics, FOMO and all that
We have to remember that they make very little money from the actual music, physical sales are down ( I know vinyl has made a comeback), streaming pays pennies literally, they have to make the money back in some way and pay back the advance to make the albums so they tour constantly,
I'm one of the people that complain but still pay the prices, think I spent 400 on Metallica over 2 nights for a vip, 150 AC/DC etc, it's a luxury good and nobody is forcing anyone to pay it, there's data teams that sit there and work out how to get the most money possible it's the same for any luxury good like flights etc. I do find it unbelievable that Carpenter is charging the same or more as an AC/DC mind-blowing 🤣🤣🤣
Edit:
Been to 100+ gigs different countries, stadiums all that, honest to god without a doubt you're never gonna beat an intimate gig in somewhere like the Olympia saw Robert Plant and Billy Corgan in there and you'll never beat it, I'd pay serious money for a Thom Yorke Olympia theatre gig one can dream 🤣🤣🤣
Got to know his stuff, stemming from his collaborations with Jon Hopkins, but i like his material
Same here, btw. Its €8 cheaper per ticket. for a Cork standing ticket on Singular Artists website, than on TM
Ryley Walker touring in February.
Father John Misty sorted for Galway. €8 cheaper on the Roisín dubh site than on Ticketmaster. Likely the same for his other shows.
Dublin FJM cost me €64 on Gigantic V €68 on TM
I was supposed to be going to London tomorrow night to see the Ozric's but life got in the way and I had to sell my ticket. Lost Lane, March 2025
Kneecap in fairview is sold out
One of the all time great 12 months for a band in the history of Irish music.
They seem to be getting some traction in Europe also. Appearing higher up in some festival posters. Fair play to them
Sick new world was cancelled because the management messed up badly and promised too much $$$. 1 day festival, tickets from $400. Sonic temple festival with the same headliners is still going ahead. Price also from $400, but its a 4-day festival and Metallica plays on 2 nights.
Train announcing a gig here on Monday
Jesus wept.
Always associate them with some of the worst lyrics ever written.... For example....
"Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken
Your best friend always sticking up for you
Even when I know you're wrong
Can you imagine no first dance, freeze-dried romance
Five hour phone conversation
The best soy latte you ever had and me?"
Possible Oscar nomination to put the icing on……..
If only they could find something else to sue the Tories for.
Nice to see Damien in agreement with a few here.
😂😂
In Belfast as well. The Dublin and Belfast gigs both coincide with Alabama 3 playing their first two albums the same nights.
Vicar st I presume? They have only ever been aiken and I cant see them attempting the 3arena
