Heading to Brussels?
Diversion to Brussels by the looks of it. Some trek.
Problems in Dublin now, with some of the early EI transatlantic flights struggling to get in. The A330 from JFK has had two failed attempts, as well as the A321N from Newark.
JFK looks like it's diverting to Manchester
10 diverted flights from Cork in the end.
Ryanair Tenerife into Shannon is diverting to Dublin.
The earlier Stansted returned to Cork to position, but gave up and has gone back to London.
A Ryanair from Luton has gone to Dublin. Another Stansted looked to have diverted to Dublin, but had second thoughts over Waterford. It swung back towards Cork, but in the end thought better of it and is continuing to Dublin.
An EI from Amsterdam has been holding for about 45 minutes. It's pretty bad in Cork now. Probably wasting his time.
Ryanair Stansted into Cork has diverted to Dublin. Didn't hang around for long.
Ryanair from Gatwick also diverted. This time to Shannon.
Could be a long night in Cork
FR6588 from Liverpool holding at Cork.
The fun begins.
As this is primarily tonight I don't think disruption will be too severe
So far, ops appear have gone very smoothly indeed.
A few have gone around and ops now on 16. Should be an interesting evening in DUB.
Why Cork and not Dublin?
Several Emerald Air flights diverting from BHD to ORK, think only one flight landed in BHD all day.
LGL4887 from LUX must have hit a big bit of crosswind (or was the runway not clear?) as it was about to land. It landed successfully next time around.
Might be a bit big for our needs. I do think the IAC could look at 'part ownership'. I believe a few EU nations share a pool of tankers/transports. (I think it might be the BENELUX nations)
Windspeed isn't the real cause for concern with this storm, it's more the large quantities of rain in the south and west.
No windspeed in excess of 40kts is forecast for Dublin tomorrow, in TAF looks like between 6am and 10am there's a PROB40 for wind speeds gusting to 35Kts, so shouldn't be too much of an issue, although it is a crosswind from the Southwest.
Not neccesarily. Depends on the wind direction. And departures are less affected by strong winds than landings (helped by your aircraft being in location for the early departure of course)
I've a flight from DUB early tomorrow morning during the storm. I guess at the very least I can expect a lengthy delay?
EU Battlegroup deployment by the Defence Forces, I think.
antonov 124 Thurs evening flew south of donegal town making a right racket. no flightplan, set off from Washington.
Heard an aircraft this evening about 5pm ish, sounded like a light cessna type plane at first but as it passed it sounded a bit louder than one of those. In Southwest Mayo near coast, sounded like ot was heading out to sea.
Nothing on flightradar24. I couldn't see anything, cloud level is prob 1000 metres + judging by mountains. It was nearly fully dark, not the conditions recreational flyers are typically seen in around here. Any ideas?
This guy got a great photo of the Belgian A400:

Hopefully IAC are taking the opportunity to look at it with a view to an acquisition.
And it's airborne again.
I have no idea what its up to myself.
That A400 sailed over my head there an hour ago on the way into Baldonnel again. Any idea what it's transporting?
Belgian A400M on finals into Baldonnell.
Almost 3h00m from Glasgow too, awful.
FR1863 from Manchester has been holding at Cork for over 1hr 45mins, now has to divert to Shannon as the runway opening time keeps getting pushed out. Ouch! 3 hour flight from Manchester to end up in Shannon anyways!
Bit of holding around this morning. 3 aircraft holding at Cork, including one from Manchester which has been holding for ~90 minutes!
Also 2 holding at Kerry.
It's operated by Antonov Airlines (Ukraine).
